  1. Let's see if EWB is keen to play Mafia after 2 years of no games. Looking for 10 people to sign-up for this potentially chaotic but definitely very silly game. (If there's a big interest I can bump it up to 11, but do need at least 10 for this to go forward)

Also when you sign up let me know if you're in favour of shorter (48 hours) or slightly longer (72 hours) day phases. (Day 1 will be a bit longer just so everyone can get back into the Mafia groove, but every subsequent day will have the time limit applied)

    Player list:
    1. Ace
    2. kurgan
    3. DMN in the house
    4. Ruki
    5. Naitch
    6. Nick Adams
    7. C-Mil
    8.
    9.
    10.

  2. Hello everyone! I am back on my yearly journey to fill spare time by seeing if anyone is keen to play mafia! (And I promise this time I won’t suddenly dip because I suddenly have 2 jobs and 0 free time. In fact I currently have 0 jobs and 2 free time 😬)

If any experienced game runners have games ready to go I am definitely raring to play! Otherwise I have a non-traditional 10 person game ready to go.

I think I'm nearing the end of the game? I'm level 25, just finished everything on Monarch...

Killing the Iconoclast leader and then doing the negotiations was fun!

    .

@apsham, how much more do I have out of curiosity?

Also, I've learned that the best way to deal with enemies is my plasma LMG... just mows everything down. But it's not as satisfying as a stealthy headshot.

You’ve still got quite a bit to go, especially if you like to do all the side quests.

I finished the game yesterday and I didn’t want it to end, such a good game! I think I’ll do a murderous playthrough next.

There are some mean fucking creatures on Monarch....

You’re telling me. I decided to land at the Cascadia Landing Pad and take the long way to Stellar Bay. How bad could it possibly be?

Answer: Very very bad I don’t recommend.

  5. Untitled Goose Game is amazing. It’s a shame the main game is so short.

Favourite section has to be the garden with the farmer. There’s just so much you can do in such a small space and most of the objectives have multiple ways of doing them. I didn’t enjoy the Pub section that much, the Bouncer was a right ass to deal with.

Any and all David Cage/Quantic Dream games. Omikron, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Detroit: Become Human.

They're all decent fun, I even have to say the early game of Fahrenheit I utterly loved (When it was a murder mystery and before it went completely off the rails). Same with Heavy Rain in many aspects. All games have gameplay that definitely make them something you at least want to play once.

But holy shit, so many flaws. And most of them are endemic to Quantic Dream and David Cage's 'vision' in particular. Ham Fisted social commentary, sexualizing Female Protagonists to further plot points, Game devolving into completely non-sensical trite after the half way mark, over-reliance on QTE's and other 'busiwork' rather than true gameplay, super hokey acting performances in major roles, and probably a bunch more things that I definitely missed.

Doesn't help that David Cage is a deluded bellend himself too, but I guess that's to be expected by a man that sees his games as art over entertainment.

But still, I have played all QD titles expect Omikron, and I got to say all of them had a lot of good in between the insane.

I came in here just to mention Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy. I bought the remastered version a couple of days ago and finished it and oh my god the constant QTEs were the absolute worst. I played the original version when I was younger and never remembered them being so frequent.

And the story going absolutely bonkers halfway through was another thing I didn’t recall (or realise when I was younger). It’s such a shame too because the first part in the diner (and the follow up investigation) is possibly my favourite opening in a video game ever.

  7. I am also aboard the “smash is amazing” train.

I haven’t delved into World of Light that much. It doesn’t really appeal to me. I’ve been liking Adventure mode and the various challenges it throws at you, and some of the end bosses were surprising. I also like that you can unlock characters just by playing the game and not needing to fulfill a certain condition (for most of them).

The only annoying thing is that they seem to increase the difficulty to stupid levels when you’re trying to unlock someone. I fought Pit 7 times before I unlocked him.

I'm sure there was a way the referee could win in one of the Playstation games as well...

And on Smackdown 2, if you targeted the referee and used "steal finisher" on him, you got him in a Standing Crossface.

I think it was Here Comes the Pain. If you had KOs on, or it was a first blood match, and you went for a Powerbomb finisher on the referee he would counter it into a DDT, which could bust you open or KO you.

  9. I don’t know what it is, but ever since the jump to the current generation of consoles the games seem to have gone backwards. I got a fair chunk of play out of 2k14 - no game since has come close to being a similar time sink. Hell I didn’t even bother finishing Career mode for this year’s game, which is a first for me.

Ronda being a “preorder bonus” (only to probably be released later on for 10 dollars or something) just screams cash grab. If they’re going to do that they should at least make it interesting - like I don’t know, you preorder the game and immediately unlock big head mode or something. That’d be fun.

  10. Just saw this tonight. It’s good, very good even.

    But...(big spoilers ahead)

So Dr. Strange saw ~14 million alternate futures, with only 1 showing a “victory” for the universe. So this future required Thanos to accumulate all the stones and achieve what he wanted all along? Now obviously there’s the sequel (which may show that all the “deaths” that occurred aren’t permanent) but until we know that for sure - this move makes no sense. Thanos was going to eliminate half the universe regardless - why allow him to meet that end in a quick fashion? Hell they almost beat him a few scenes prior to this until Starlord fucked it up.

I can also see (if the deaths are permanent) a whole explanation revolving around Thanos being less dangerous without the gauntlet than letting him roam around with it on (but incomplete)

Finished the South Park: Fractured But Whole game last night. Is it just my perception, or was it a substantially shorter/blander game than Stick of Truth was?

They’re about the same length (FBW is probably an hour or so longer) but besides the combat I didn’t enjoy it as much as SoT (which I replayed again after beating FBW, still holds up) SoT had plenty of memorable moments (the Alien Spaceship, the school section and Canada just to name a few) but the only thing that really sticks out in my mind in FBW is the first Human Kite 2 fight (and only because of how it ended)
