  1. Naiwf, I'm not heralding LeBron as the best player ever. I have never once said that. Jordan still holds that title and will for quite some time. I have said he will end up going down as the best player ever when it's all set and done because I am confident he will win enough championships to be considered that. And yes, I saw Jordan play. Please don't throw away my argument by saying something as condescending - something along the lines of "I don't agree with you so you simply didn't see Jordan play." And anyone could have ripped out the damn Nuggets heart last night considering their shit performance. Man I was disappointed in how Denver came out. Billups was a no show and the Lakers shockingly just beat the Nuggets up on the glass. Plus, even as a Duke fan, I don't understand how Dahntay Jones is an NBA starter. The guy is awful, never liked him at Duke nor did I think he had the skill to be an NBA starter. He's just an athlete.
  2. As a bitter Blackhawks fan, I hope you are right. I have been so sick of the Detroit Red Wings, well pretty much since they started winning titles again in 97. I would LOVE to see a sweep of Detroit, as unlikely as that is, as I agree that Detroit will snatch away at least a game or two from the 'Pens. Crosby, I usually don't like you, and unfortunately, you steal too much of the limelight away from Malkin, but please, do your thing in this series.
  3. That's just fucking ridiculous. I tried not to bring myself in this because I thought you had at least a little bit of a well-thought out argument that I was 50-50 on, but that's just.. holy fuck. LeBron will win not 6 championships. He will not be as good as Jordan. Fin. It's really not that ridiculous dude. First off, you don't have to win the most championships to be the best player ever. If so, Bill Russell would own this argument. So let's stop saying # of championships determines how good you are. Is it a contributing factor? Of course. And I will say I think LeBron will win somewhere around 3-4 titles. And YES I still think he can be considered better than Jordan if he does that and keeps his production up near level for another ten years or so. (He will probably be able to do it for a little longer considering he has had very few injuries in his career - especially when you consider the # of minutes he has played and his physical style.) Let's not forget that LeBron's skill level has not topped out quite yet either, his jump shot and defense seem to be ever-improving. Everything else is about as good as it can possibly be with the exception of a so-called "crab dribble" (had to). Jordan didn't start winning championships until what, his seventh season? This is what, LeBron's sixth season? Oh yeah, and then there's the matter of LeBron coming straight out of high school, therefore he is still behind Jordan by a couple of years. When Jordan was LeBron's age, did anyone really think he was going to win six championships? It's so easy to just simply think of the six titles as Jordan winning them by himself and them always being a forgone conclusion, but neither of those two items are true man.
  4. I'm sick of hearing this crap that MJ would be leading this same Cavs team just fine. MJ's supporting cast was SO much better than LeBron's is right now. Don't get me wrong, while I do think LeBron will eventually surpass MJ as the better player (although a lot will never think that), I don't think he has yet and is quite a ways from doing so. But on the topic of people saying MJ would lead this same team over the Magic easily and to an nba title, blah blah blah — you really have to consider the facts. Back in MJ's era, the NBA was so much more competitive as far as the depth of the league and the depth of talent. When MJ was absent from the league in 1994 and 1995, Chicago made it to the second round of the playoffs both seasons, despite this. Do you REALLY think these Cavs would win a playoff series, let alone make it into the playoffs without LeBron? You take away LeBron from this team and they are arguably the worst team in the league.
  5. I'm killing my own argument by stating that the Cavs struggled against the leagues top teams in the reuglar season, yet you continue to fall back on the Cavs regular season record? What good is that record if they struggle against the top teams? The league is full of teams that aren't very good. You want to use specific evidence of how LeBron "fellates" himself in interviews? It's also quite ridiculous that you just call me a fanboy for no reason. If I was, I think your LeBron hatred is shining through far more than my "fanboyness." This fanboy is done with his argument.
  6. It's not fair to group all LeBron fans into one category...for example, myself, I don't like comparing current players to players from different eras...I prefer to appreciate them in their own eras, and watching LeBron James is a beautiful thing. How does he act like he invented basketball and is better than MJ? LOL where are you getting this from? The guy wears 23 because he idolized Jordan and stll does. You can blame Nike and ESPN for the "Witness" and "King" references - they're not LeBron's fault. King is just a play on his name, and "Witness" is part of an adveritsing campaign intended to sell shoes. And yes, previously I did feel Kobe was the best player in the league. However I feel LeBron has surpassed Kobe in the last two seasons. We're past regular season numbers, dude. How many times do we have to point out that regular season records are largely irrelevant when it comes to the post season? Look at the Patroits in the NFL a year ago. They were a game away from going undefeated but instead they were outplayed by a team that was a bad matchup for them, the Giants. If you really want to dwell on regular season results, Cleveland was 1-2 against Orlando. They struggled against the rest of the NBA's top teams as well, going 2-2 against Boston and 0-2 against LA.
  7. Wow, I don't even know what to so to that. You say LeBron isn't the best player because he can't single handedly carry his team to a title (or at least hasn't yet), yet Kobe is and he hasn't won a title since Shaq left. I guess we'll agree to disagree since I really don't understand where you're coming from. For some reason I feel like the newfound LeBron hate among many is in many ways equivalent to the smark hate for John Cena in 06.
  8. The regular season is a different story from the playoffs man. How can you simply say Orlando is an inferior team because they had an inferior regular season record? How many times in sports do you see the team with the best record in the regular season failing to capture the championsihp? It happens all the time. The bottom line is Orlando is a terrible matchup for Cleveland in the confines of a 7 game series. Although Dwight Howard is a mismatch for virtually any team, he has exposed the lack of athleticism in the Cleveland front line. Then there's Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis, both 6-10, and the only guy capable of guarding either is LeBron himself, and he can't guard them both. With Cleveland's weak front line the Cavs have to sag off of those two guys on the outside to try to contain Howard, and when Turkoglu and Lewis (especially Lewis) have been hitting enough shots like they have in the series, it stings pretty bad. In hockey a single player can win a cup, or at least come damn near close. See Giguere in '03, who was one game short of putting the entire Ducks team on his back and winning the Stanley cup. So who are you touting as the best player in the world right now since LeBron can only score 49 points and come a couple rebounds and assists shy of a triple double every game and is in danger of his team suffering defeat in the second to last round of the playoffs?
  9. Lol, what's your logic, especially considering that miracle shot was made by him? You have to lead your team all the way without problems to be the best player in the world? If your argument is going to be about Kobe, he hasn't won a title since the departure of Shaq. And to goto a different sport, like the NHL, it's pretty clear that Alex Ovechkin is the best player in the world, yet his team didn't even make it out of the second round.
  10. I'm not a LeBron fanboy, I'm simply a LeBron fan who knows that he is the best player in the world right now. Of course they need to hit shots. But the same has to be said for LeBron's team. And yes, he was unstoppable in game 3, despite 11/28 shooting he also went 18-24 from the free thow line - getting to the free throw line is part of the game and considering how much work LeBron had to do, 75% on 24 shots from the charity stripe is pretty damn good. You can't throw out 11/28 FGs and say because of that stat he was unstoppable - because he was. 41 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and just two turnovers speaks for itself. And I will admit he was the key reason for Cleveland's game four loss. But it's hard to blame LeBron when he has been only the reason you're in the series. Game one he had 49 on 20-30 shooting which is absolutely ridiculous, and game two do I really need to say anything? That being said I think the 'Cavs will win tonight before falling at Orlando in game six. I don't know if I see LA being able to close out the Nuggets in Denver, I think that series go the distance but ultimately the Lakers will get it done at home in game seven. If we do get an Orlando/LA matchup, I think it's an intriguing one that would offer us a long, competitive series.
  11. LOL, how can you possibly blame LeBron for any of these Cavs losses? He's been unstoppable and was the reason they went to overtime in the first place. He would probably have less turnovers if his teammates were able to give him some extra confidence by being a bit more reliable. and you blame Lebron for a loss, and yet KOBE's teammates need to hit some shots? Give me a break...If you gave LeBron James a post player the caliber of Pau Gasol, nobody would touch Cleveland.
  12. Nobody would "trash" Dwight Howard. And can LeBron get a legit post player to complement him? All year people talked about how the supporting cast was soo much better this season for him. Mo Williams is your #2 option and you're supposed to win an NBA title? Give me a break. Give LeBron Kobe's team and he would have a ring, guaranteed.
  13. Damn, I saw this on the main page and thought it was about Chris Jericho. Then I realized I was in the entertainment forum. >_<
  14. So what's everyones' thoughts on the Pulver/Penn match?
  15. I didn't see the game for myself, but I heard Verlander hit 102 mph in the NINTH INNING. If that is true, that is just absurd.
  16. Not really amazing by any means from a graphical standpoint but I thought any of you who followed the NFL would get a kick out of it.
  17. Hmm, that's strange that you haven't heard it, because I wasn't trying to be clever. It's commonly used. =\ Oh well.
  18. Coming up with the nickname? You do know Miami has been referred to as Thug U for quite a while, right..?
  19. Interesting that New England takes a guy from Thug U.
  20. I know, it's not like he wasn't going to go up, he's been there all day...but the concept of it, is just comedic to me.
  21. Is it just me or is it hilarious that the 22nd pick is on stage taking pictures? lol
  22. Griffin's a good player but I'm a Titans fan and all I have to say is..WTF.
  23. Thanks to the Packers making a seemingly ass-clown pick with Harrell, it looks like the Titans all but wrapped up Meachem.
  24. These runningbacks mentioned are pretty much a dime a dozen these days in the NFL, and most of the time it isn't necessary to waste a good draft pick on a running back, unless he's a franchise back ala AP. It's because most any running back on an NFL roster can be very successful behind a solid offensive line, and true dominant lineman are harder to obtain. I guess I'm just a guy that's not very high on running backs in the NFL, it's more about the guys in the trenches.
