  1. Cheers for the Birthday wishes C-MIL......Now for my birthday wish......BRING BACK FUSE!!!!!

  2. Well I'm all for the Melbourne Victory! I also remember in Australia a few years back Leeds United were pretty well supported due to the fact that they had several Aussies in Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka, Jacob Burns, Danny Milosevic and Jamie McMaster playing for them. It's not surprising that you don't see many Leeds Utd supporters in Australia these days though. They have all jumped on the Chelsea bandwagon....for now anyway!
  3. Sorry to bump this but it's been a while since anything was posted on here. Well last night was the Grand Final between the two biggest rivals in the A-League's short history. Melbourne Victory took on Adelaide United in front of 55,000+ people at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne...and i was fortunate enough to obtain a ticket.... ...and i am so pleased that i did because Melbourne put on a show in front of it's fans to win the Grand Final!!!! I am still recovering from the post match celebrations, but what a night. Not only did Melbourne win, but the goals just kept raining down as the final score was..... ...wait for it....... ...wait for it....... ...here it comes.... ...i promise i'm not lying!...... 6-0!!!! Archie Thompson scored a lazy 5 for himself with youngster Kristian Sarkies getting the 6th. I honestly did not expect it to be one sided, but i sure as heck 'aint complaining! On to the Victory celebrations this week in Melbourne with a Club BBQ day on Thursday 22nd Feb for all Victory fans! STAND UP FOR VICTORY!!
  4. I would love to see a sort of Ashes series between the two countries on the football pitch. The rivalry between the two countries in just about every other sport is always healthy (League, Union, Cricket etc...) so why not try to capitolise on that. I know that a lot of Australian people have built up the Australian team to be much better than it is, but in all honesty, we are a team on the rise. Playing more games in the Asian confederation, against better quality teams will no doubt improve the experience of Aussie players and in time we may be a football power. As much as i'd like to boast that we are a world class team, we are not there just yet, but anyone who writes us off as being average is going to be in for a shock. Yes we were knocked out of the World Cup at the second round, but if you remember the game: A)- We lost to the eventual World Cup winners, and B)- We only lost after Italy was awarded one of the most pathetic penalties in injury time. On the subject of Noel....well he's been shooting his mouth off for years so i take it with a grain of salt. Still the man does know how to write good music (Y) oh and for the record, the last time England Played Australia: February 14 2003 England 1 Australia 3 @ Upton Park, London (one for each goal!)
  5. Well it finally had to happen sooner or later! Victory lose their first game of the season and it was to that same mob again Adelaide. Don't know what it is about them, but they seem to have Melbourne's measure everytime they play each other. Still 6 points clear at top and a big game next as Melbourne take on Sydney FC away. Should be a cracker of a game! (Y)
  6. My thoughts exactly Misanthrope, i couldn't have said it any better myself! Good luck for Newcastle  this weekend against Melbourne (Y)
  7. Mark my words, the A-League will only get stronger and stronger...AS long as it continues to be run professionally and by the right people. Remember we are only 6 rounds into the new season...still a long way to go yet and now with both the NRL and AFL finishing their respective seasons, there should be some improvement in the crowds. Either way, there is still a long way to go for the A-League, but all in good time.
  8. So let me get this straight.....you came into this thread titled "Official A-League Thread" to basically offer your views that Melbourne are bandwagon jumpers and that following an A-League club is for Gay people. Did i miss anything?
  9. I only have a few worth mentioning: Lance Storm & Christian: They both gave me an autograph at a special event held before the Global Warning Tour in Australia a few years back (I think it was called Fan Frenzy?). Lance is a true gentleman and I had a good chat to him. Stacy Keibler: Signed a copy of the "Best of 2001" DVD for me, but that was it! She didn't speak to anyone the whole time. Mark Henry: Same deal, he signed my DVD as well, but i was too scared to speak to him....He looked hungry I also have a few Aussie Rules Football players autographs somewhere. From memory i have Stephen Kernahan, Greg Williams, and Matthew Lloyd.
  10. Yes growth is only natural Zarghz. (Y) The reson why i say this is quite simply the fact that the league is in it's infancy. Of course things are only going to get better for the league. There is more corporate money invested in the game in Australia now and it is a hell of a lot more professionally run these days. There is also now a strong focus on developing our youth players in the league and we now play in the Asian confederation, so more games for the National team and A-League clubs as well.
  11. G'day Melbourne Victory supporter here....oh sorry must have jumped on the bandwagon Seriously though, anyone who has lived in Melbourne knows that this is not a bandwagon town...well not entirely! Melbourne just loves it's sport, its that simple. It doesn't matter if its AFL, NRL, or the A-League....we just love sport. So before people start going around calling everyone in Melbourne a bandwagon jumper, try living here a while and seeing that we are a sports mad town. (Y) Back on to the subject, Melbourne Victory are on fire this season 6 games, 6 wins, and proudly sitting atop the A-League. To be honest, Melbourne has had an unbelievable run of good luck with injuries so far. In fact i think coach Ernie Merrick had a full squad to choose from against Queensland so it just shows what can happen when you do get your best eleven out on the park every week. Looking forward to the Newcastle game on Sunday...GO VICTORY!!!
  12. Definitely would have to be Arrested Development for me. I know it has already been mentioned, but it was that good. There were so many great jokes, and also jokes within jokes that made this a show that you could watch over and over and still be laughing at something you missed the last time. Not to mention the guest stars they had. Henry Winkler as the family lawyer was priceless! And the characters.....GOB, Tobias etc.... :lmao: Champagne Comedy at it's best!
