  1. seriously, calm down. Even though some of us (such as Biggz and I) do like teams that are prennial powerhouses (such as FSU - who are stinking this year) that doesn't mean we aren't fans of the game. I LOVE college football, and well I watch damn near everyone .... even Rutgers. Hell, I've watched since Schiano took over, and even made comments a couple of years ago that guys like Hart - Leonard were showing signs that Schaino was getting it done at Rutgers. Looky here, undefeated just 3 years later. I find it funny that fans of teams such as Rutgers, or any normally not in the spotlight team (or conference) cry out that those of us that follow "big schools" are very tunnel visioned in our views and knowledge of the game. So often it is these people that speak .... and prove it to be just the opposite.
  2. Rutgers will beat West Virginia ...... oh yes, they will.
  3. Oh God .... seriously, skip the damned class ..... or take your laptop ..... or something. Jesus that sucks
  4. Yeah, so is anyone else actually looking forward to tonight's game between UL and Rut ? I can honestly say that this season, this is my 'most looked forward too' game so far. Aside from opening weekend's FSU/Miami game (which has since proved to be nothing outside of those of us that love one of those schools) this game actually has me 'not being able to wait for it.' As much as I don't care which team wins because I happen to enjoy watching them both ... I find myself wanting to pull for Rutgers ... Thoughts ?
  5. I would spear my Nole in any of them ....... for the rest of you ... that's them
  6. The FSU Cowgirls are amazing ........ and where the fuck is NextDoorNikki damnit ......
  7. I hate this debate because I straddel the fence horribly, and the pickets dig into my balls ... There are mid-major teams that I feel could have done just fine in a BCS bowl. I'd have loved to see the 11-1 TCU team get a shot at a BCS bowl. I honestly feel THAT team was legit. And there in lies the problem. There have been a few of those 'mid-major' teams that were on par, but the majority are not. The undefeated Marshall and Tulane teams would have been smoked. Then there's the whole schedule argument which, as valid as it is, isn't really fair either. Sure, teams in stronger conferences have a 'tougher' schedule, however that strength is relative. Who's to say that OSU's schedule is harder for them than Boise St's schedule is for them ? Strength is relative, and I for one can't punish a team that does what it's supposed to do. At the beginning of the season EVERY team has 10-14 games on their schedule. When a team beats every single one of them, I can't justify someone saying that they aren't good enough for at least a shot at something huge at the end of the season. I mean, if it were that easy then we'd have quite a few undefeated teams each year. But we don't, because it isn't. All in all, I feel that the mid-majors do get boned a bit, but at the same time don't feel that the majority of their top teams could hang if given the chance. That's why I'm in favor of a playoff. Settle it on the field.
  8. again ? they haven't lost yet ... and I'm eagerly anticipating the UL/Rut match up, because I do feel that the winner of that will finish undefeated
  9. I can't agree, or disagree with this. I'd love to see a study over say .... the last decade in which all of the top 10 pre-season teams were tracked to see where they actually ended up. That would probably show us how 'off' they are. Hell, I'll probably do that here in a minute.
  10. I'll always contend that a playoff is MORE FAIR than a one off that is determined by pretty much everthing BUT the teams on the field. My stance being that if you look at every single major sport in every country has a playoff to determine a champion. Major college football is the ONLY one that doesn't involve a playoff. Money is why, and a damn good reason, but I'll get back to that. As far as for what it SHOULD be about, why would it be unfair to either disband all conference championship games and take the top two teams from each conference OR, give all conferences a title game and then use that to determine 1-2 seeding in a playoff ? Why is it that a team that didn't even win it's conference (see OK) getting a shot at the National Title is MORE FAIR than an undefeated team not even getting a shot (see Tulane/Marshall/Auburn) ? You can't justify that. Sure there are arguments to do so, however if the point is to see who is best on the field, why not have that happen ? Sure, there are plenty of teams that were better than the undefeated Tulane and Marshall teams, but the BCS says that it's FAIR to give them the 'shutthefuckuphereissomemoneyquityourbitchingyouwouldgetmanhandledbyarealteam' Bowl rather than have them prove whether or not they really were that good. Playoffs are merely a series of one-shots anyway, and that's what the BCS does, create a one-shot. A playoff however, decides who a better team is. You have to be a better team in order to win 2-3 games in a playoff, NOT to win ONE GAME, 30-40 days after your season is over. As for the economics of it .... I can't find it to save my life, but at one time had found a model that comprises a playoff system USING the current bowls and their 'levels' of prestige. Your current BCS bowl games were rotated among the semi-finals and finals just as they are used rotatingly so at the moment. As far as your fans and traveling and such, just look at Division 3 football for your regional playoff format. It works. Besides, why would the BCS be contemplating a final *cough* play-off game after the BCS games are played if infact the BCS determined the best teams ?
  11. I've had PS-CS on my comp for a while, and I finally decided to open it up and give it a shot. This is what happened. I've never had training, don't know what 99/100 of the program does or how to use it. I know crap except that when you keep pushing buttons, shit happens. Here's mine.
  12. I for one, think that game would suck a second time around. I understand, and can't really argue with how it'd come to be, but it would suck. You'd possibly end up crowning a team champion that 'evened the score' - which doesn't make them national champions. Or, you'd have a national champion that beats a team for a second time to 'prove' that they're national champs, and that doesn't work either. Having that game in itself is a pitfall for the BCS. Should that scenario arise, then what about a possible one loss UF, Ark, WVU, UL, Rut, ND, Tex ... the list goes on. If two teams have already played, then there is no way that they should play each other again to determine a National Title. In no way can you convince me that the team that loses 'the one that counts' should have losing the national title their penalty ESPECIALLY if they beat the team they just lost too already. The only way that's fair is in a playoff, not a one game computerized crap shoot.
  13. WV has played and beat 6-2 Maryland ... that's a quality win in my book. As for Louisville, aside from Miami, they did just beat WV - the number one rated rushing offense in the nation. OH, and as for UL being one dimensional, you do realise that their rush offense is BETTER than their pass offense right ? (7r - 10p) ..... Just because you play teams that are 'trash' doesn't mean you have better stats. Just ask Virginia, they don't rank higher than 23 in any major offensive or defensive category and their schedule includes powerhouses NCst, NC, East Car, and Wyoming ......
  14. Lousville has one of the worst defenses you've seen all year ? Then you've only seen about ten teams play because they have (no longer I'm sure) the number 8 run defense. They're also in the top 25 overall, and WV is in the top 30 overall. Their defenses aren't bad at all, they just have offenses that are THAT good. Louisville lost one of the best players in the game in Bush and haven't skipped a beat. They also lost Brohm for a period of time and it didn't phase them at all. They are a damned good TEAM. I'd dare say that if Smith went down at OSU for the same period of time that Brohm did, they wouldn't be undefeated. As for Michigan, I still feel that they're overrated. Too many more times than not they've looked strong like this only to fumble late in the season. Besides, lately they haven't looked all that strong.
  15. I am not sold on ND and haven't been well .... ever really. Leak has a better passer rating, doesn't get sacked as much, and averages more per attempt. The offense that Florida runs isn't straightforward like ND's and is a bit harder to defense. Florida has better athletes, but perhaps not better team players (credit to Weis). As far as the schedule goes, it speaks for itself. UF has beaten Tenn, LSU, and were beaten by Auburn. While ND only lost to Mich, they've beaten Georgia Tech (which they shouldn't have) and that's really it. PSU, and Mich St have proven to suck. ND isn't really beating opponents that are that great. I'd throw the UGA team that Florida beat against any team other than Mich that ND has played. The only opponent of the remaining four for ND that isn't trash is USC. I bet they lose that one too. Hell, ND's defense BLOWS <-- UF is 9th in total D against a good schedule, ND is 61st against trash. I don't see how in any way, ND is better than UF.
  16. Why is Jeff Bowden still calling plays ? Why do people think OSU is overrated ? Did they not see the entire season in which they went undefeated and won the National Title ? Are they just ignorant, or do they just like acting dumb as all fuck ? Being an FSU fan this next question hurts to even ask, but being a realist and a college football fan I must ask: Other than OSU and possibly Michigan, is there a better team than Florida at the moment ? Are people really thinking that USC's loss to OrgSU means something other than the fact that three teams will be disappointed when it all settles and they are Pac10 champs .... again ? Why do people have faith in Cal ? Or Org ? Or Ucla ? Or anyone NOT USC in the Pac10 ? How funny was TTech's collapse against UT ? (really damned funny) Who's the real deal, BC or WF ? Does anyone actually realise that A&M has only one loss ? Am I the only one taking Rutgers in the 3 team unbeaten race in the Big East ? How many Big 10 fans are actually excited about the fact that INDIANA is a very possible bowl rep this year ? Am I the only one that is actually paying attention to what Solich is doing at Ohio U ? Does anyone remember when I said that Arkansas was good ? That they game with USC was absolutely NOT an indication of the team ? They'd keep beating people ? Anyone else realise that they are the only SEC team that has yet to lose a conf game ? Anyone else notice that San Jose St is 5-2 and that Fresno St is 1-6 ?
  17. I hope now, that people will realise that Iowa is never as good as they all think. FSU needs help, quickly. (nice black uni's though) Duke should have beaten Miami .... damn damn damn Rutgers is good .... seriously Why can't Baylor show up every week ? A&M looks bad in their winning, but will be really good in two years. Oregon sucks, again. Screw Clemson for those hideous purple uni's (although I otherwise love them)
  18. GO HERE There are plenty to choose from, and many are quite good. The J-Horror films are done much better (as far as story and presentation of ideals) than American horror movies. Check em out.
  19. Frank Miller's 'graphic novels' will always be the standard as far as I am concerned. Kurt Busiek (sp) the guy that did Asro City .... I love his work as well
  20. I have to admit, I'm a bit biased as I live in Texas, and played HS and College ball here as well. That said, I don't see why people say that the film sucks. Sure, it isn't a landscape changing documentary, or a blockbuster by any means. It wasn't supposed to be either. It was a re-telling/screen adaption of a writers personal/first hand account of what he saw when he went to Texas to find out for himself what the big deal was (Friday nights in Texas are known nationally as damn near religious days). The movie was a pretty good adaption of the book, with very little 'hollywooding' .... I've read the book, so yes I know. What were you expecting it to be ? or, what were you expecting from it ?
  21. Ok, so the brawl with 'Thug U' and FIU was pretty crazy (reminded me of San Diego St in the mid 90's). Something I'd expect from Miami, but what I didn't expect was what FIU has done. FIU does things right What the University has done might seem harsh to quite a few, but I feel that it is absolutely the right message. This hardly happens in the college ranks and I can't profess how much I love what FIU had done. highlights - all fiu coaches and players must undergo 10 hours anger management and 50 hours community service two players dismissed, 16 players suspended indefinately Every college athletic program should pin this article in the disciplinary office
  22. I picked Tennessee against Cal, and it worked pretty well for me on a side note, screw you Oregon And damnit, I just got finished saying that Arkansas was good and wasn't done beating people .... just didn't expect them to bite ME in the ass ..... I'd love to see Mark come back to FSU, but that ain't happening ... Hell, I'd be all right if Amato would come back and call the plays ... Why in the hell would anyone put any faith in Purdue ? Seriously ?
  23. If Mickie Andrews doesn't take over when Bobby B is done, then FSU is done. Jeff is terrible .... terrible with a capital FUCKING SUCKS Jesus, I'd rather have Dino Babers calling ..... ok, so there is ONE person that sucks at play calling worse than Jeff. You know, Bob Davie was great as a coordinator at TexAM .... as was Toledo. They aren't doing much these days.
  24. OH, I know why ND does what it does with it's football program. It's smart, but it sucks for the Big East (and they don't need help in that department as we all know). It isn't like they're powerhouses in anything else though. At least, not consitantly. The Big East gets shit all from having ND in its conference for every other sport. They aren't that strong of a program in the other sports to really use the name ND as leverage. Football absolutely, other sports no way. So the Big East should grow nuts and pull rank. Imagine, ND - WV - UL - instant BCS legit.
