  1. Watched Suicide Squad the other night with the wife.  After initially shitting on BvS we've given it several re-watches and it's come to fall "in the middle" ... it was highly disappointing and swung and missed on quite a bit, BUT with re-watches does pull of its own entertaining qualities.  Also, it has us pumped for Wonder Woman.  SS though?  Ugh ... my comic fanboyism will be the only reason I ever watch this again.  It was just bad.  Choppy, mangled, someone playing a cool playlist in the background, a couple of decent acting performances tossed about, something about this powerful being that somehow needs to be told where the armies are? .... eh.  I mean the majority of the "big" squad gathering is just going in to get Waller?  It sucked because the bar scene SHOULD have been really good (and is in a vacuum) but falls beyond flat because when it's over, you go "oh yeah they've still got the whole thing to do" ...

... it's really bad.  While one of the redeeming aspects of the movie, Harley is forced (terribly so at times) here and there and Margot falls in and out of the classic animated Harley and whatever version is in this movie.  No reason to give a crap about Flag(g) and the nice Dr lady ... OH HEY LOOK KATANA ... and on and on.

  2. Fox Sports Netherlands journalist Martijn Visscher reports that RSL and Groningen have agreed to a deal for the 22-year-old Slovak inernational, though Rusnak and the MLS side have yet to agree to personal terms.

The Seattle Sounders are the latest club to be linked with a swoop for AC Milan playmaker Keisuke Honda, with his agent saying he would prefer to come to MLS over China. And he's not the only Japan midfielder in the Sounders rumor mill: They're also reportedly back in for Hiroshi Kiyotake, who picked defending Europa League champs Sevilla over them earlier this year.

Veteran Millonarios midfielder Rafael Robayo, who played for Chicago a few seasons back, says he will no longer continue with his current club and is weighing a return to the league, along with possibilities in Ecuador and Peru.

The Costa Rican influx in MLS shows no signs of slowing, with Marca.com's Arch Bell reporting that four teams are interested in Saprissa forward Daniel Colindres. MLS Transfers has specifically linked him to Minnesota United.

Friberg's option was declined by SEA and he's heading back to Sweden

Alberg is massively overrated. He doesn't have the work rate necessary to make it. He got found out real quick, and Ilsinho hasn't really performed up to standard at all. I've been a fan of Fabian Herbers, think he's got potential. We also need to replace Barnetta too, sadly :(

I love Herbers ... hope he gets a solid shot.  Ilsinho hasn't been who most figured he'd be, but he's been more than adequate IMO.  I think part of the issue with him is that Pontius roared back and the guys up top didn't really help the MID out too much.  Though he wasn't hardly a 90m player either which wasn't expected.  Alberg just seemed to be lost when Bedoya arrived as he'd been doing what Bedoya was brought in to do.  Barnetta being gone makes me sad ... loved that guy.

THIS IS OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!  HUGE for CCL play and to start the season as Mauro recovers (again).

Been incredibly quiet for us this off season. All I ask is for Stewart and Curtin to figure out if they want Edu as a CB or CDM, so they can buy an upgrade at the other spot. And a quality striker. The back line was generally awful in the second half of the season. Marquez is fine enough, but Yaro is not ready, and Tribbett doesn't belong in the league. Carroll is sadly just past it to be a regular in the XI, and Creavalle - while I really like him as a squad player - lacks the discipline and consistency. Up top, it just seems like Charlie Davies isn't going to ever get a chance, and Sapong lacks the consistently and finishing skills. By no means do I hope we lose him though, just need an upgrade.

... Expecting another goalkeeper to be signed instead. It's still The Union after all :shifty:

^ you've pretty much said it.  You have a SQUAD PLAYER team without any real standout capable guys (and the one you do isn't getting the shot).  I mean you've got Bedoya, Alberg, and Ilsihno which is a pretty damn good MF ... but they're in a breadless sandwich out there in the middle of the park.  Pontius came back very well last year but he's still a question mark.  It's weird ... but here's Curtin's comments after he finished the new Pro Licensing Coaching Program:

I want us to be known as a club that develops players for the United States national team. That sounds obvious, but I think we are a unique team in that regard.

I think others have their eyes set on bringing in the DPs and the elite players. I want players to come through the Philadelphia Union and play for the United States national team. Because at the end of the day, this country and this game will only grow if our national team is great. Not good, great.
You can bring over a [Andrea] Pirlo, you can bring over a [Frank] Lampard, and yeah, maybe 30,000 more people might watch a game. But it's only going to really move from a sport where seven to eight million people are watching our national team play, if our national team is good. I'm truly a believer in that. I think we're a club that believes in that strategy.
And it needs to be said, too, that winning is at the front of it. That's understood that we're a pro team, and we know we need to win first and foremost. But along with that, developing players for the United States national team.
What makes me happy the most is to now see Keegan Rosenberry get called in [to the U.S.' upcoming training camp in January], to see [Alejandro] Bedoya get called in, to see Chris Pontius resurrect his career and get called in - from a goal that we set at the beginning of the year. That's special to me.
To see Derrick Jones get called into the under-20s with Auston Trusty, and know that we have those young kids coming up, driving the engine for us, is powerful. Our staff has done a great job, Earnie has done a great job, of shifting that culture.

  5. Yeah there's several clubs that can use him.  Hopefully someone reaches out AND he wants to stay.

On Dec. 26, Kansas City Star writer Sam McDowell reported that Sporting KC had reached agreements in principle with wingers Latif Blessing and Gerso Fernandes. Blessing – just 19 years old – won MVP of the Ghana Premier League after leading with 17 goals, while Fernandes has made 14 appearances for Belenenses in Portugal's first division.

Spanish LB/LM Ayoze Garcia, who most recently played with the New York Cosmos, told El Dorsal that he's not interested in signing with his hometown club, CD Tenerife, but is instead expecting to sign with an MLS team for 2017.

    Thread title fixed.

Pretty excited about the Shipp trade, that's about as good as a Lodeiro backup as you could expect in MLS.

    Shipp move is huge.

And thanks @GoGo Yubari !!!! Nice of you to acknowledge FCD's double :pervert:  What do you make of the Briun deal?  Valdez not coming back?

The 26-year-old Argentine played for Club Tijuana and Club America from 2013-16, facing MLS opposition in CONCACAF Champions League while playing for the Liga MX sides. It is currently unclear which MLS team is interested in Benedetto.

^Rumor it's ATL going after him ... which if true ... HOLY FUCKING SHIT they'll be stacked.  Whomever it is I hope they land him and get this fucker in the league so he can't torch us in CCL anymore.
