  1. How do you figure O'Neal deserves the gate for the season when he punched a fan who was on the court? Seems like self-defense, albeit excessively so, to me. Artest & Jackson should be done for the rest of the year, O'Neal & Wallace should get 10 games each. Wallace started the whole shit, and deserves more than the usual suspension for being involved in a fight.

  2. I wouldn't worry about a payroll though.  The guy who owns the Tigers (Mike Illitch) also owns Little Caesar Pizza and the Detroit Red Wings.  Both franchises make him more than enough money to pay for the Tigers.

It's good that Tigers are getting out of the cellar for once in my lifetime. I'm not a fan of theirs, but hell. They're a historic team and have struggled for long too long.

Off topic: as for Caesars. The only places I see them are in K-Marts. Half of them in CT closed. Half the rest struggle to sell $400 a day, $700 on Fri/Sat. Or at least that's what it's like in my area. Caesars is good stuff though.

  3. You do when your life is in jeopardy.  Seeing how chairs were flung around later in the fracas you have to see how he might feel jeopardized.  The foul was not even flagrant IMO.  Wallace pushed him back because they were getting beaten badly at home.  Then Artest is calmed down and the fans pull that bullshit.  He absolutely had every right to enter the stands and when he started getting cheapshotted from behind his teammates did too.  You watch the tape of them leaving the floor and seeing literally every fan near the exits throwing stuff on them and you tell me that your fans aren't 100% disgraceful.

  4. If I was the NBA, but Im biased here, based on his history; Id give Artest atleast 20 games.  You do not attack fans, and that's what he did, attacked fans.  And the wrong one at that.

    The fan struck first. Period.

And somebody's ass had better be spending some jail time. Millionaires or not, the players have the same right to self-defense as you or I.

  5. As a Piston fan, Im embarassed. Its a disgrace. But, this is not how we act. A couple of idiots have given the Palace crowd a bad name. But this is not all on our hands. That nut Ron Artest started everything. Cheap shot on Ben Wallace then he went into the stands. I dont care if he got beer thrown at him. You do not go into the stands. Then Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal sucker punching people left and right. The Piston fans are at fault here but its not like the Pacers are innocent either. One idiot ruins the best fans in the NBA's repuation. This is just shameful and Im embarassed

  6. I GOTTA FEVAH.......AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS......MORE COWBELL

  7. Tigers signed Troy Percival. 2-years, $12 million

This is signing is sooo huge. Not only does this guy give the team a top flight closer, but the appearence is great. He shows guys around the league that the Tigers are for real. He's said he's already been in Troy Glaus' ear to come, this is great.

Plus it was reported that the Tigers had a great meeting with Jeff Kent and are hot for Steve Finley

  8. The way I heard it his past turned out to be alot worse than they thought. But their fallback is Bob Melvin? Was Buddy Bell unavailable?

The Expos will be probably known as the Washington Nationals

Don Mattingly, Joe Girardi, Chili Davis and Chuck Cottier are among candidates to replace Willie Randolph as the Yankees' bench coach under Joe Torre

The Detroit Tigers picked up P Ugeth Urbina's $4 million option for 2005

The Cubs signed SS Neifi Perez to a 1-year deal as insurance for Nomar Garciaparra

Baltimore declined the $3 million option on P Buddy Groom, opting to give him a $250,000 buyout

St.Louis picked the 2005 option on P Chris Carpenter and declined the $8 million option on P Woody Williams for 2005

Astros RF Lance Berkman will miss 5-6 months after tearing his right ACL playing flag football
