  1. If I wanted to start reading anything relating to Batman, where would be a good place to start?

Batman from the new 52 has been pretty darn good. Nightwing and Batman and Robin are also good. I cannot say much about the other books from personal experience, but I have heard Batgirl was worth a try.

  2. Finally getting caught up on Supernatural. Bobby is talking to his ghost friend and she's like "What do you think happens when you die?" and he says "Dunno. Probably just gone is my guess."

Now, that'd be a fine reply.

IF THEY HADN'T SPENT LIKE 3 SERIES DEALING WITH ANGELS, HEAVEN, HELL AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS A GOD.

Come on now. That's a pretty fucking massive piece of continuity that they somehow forgot.

On the plus side, the shows gotten a bit better the last few episodes I watched. Was really, really losing interest in it for a while, but around episode 16 it started to pick back up again. It's quite funny that I remember being like "Oh man, I hope Supernatural isn't cancelled after Season 5!" when looking back on it, they really should have ended it with Season 5.

To be fair, Bobby did not go to heaven with Dean and Sam and get to see how it was. It was a strange response though as he could have said that you either go to heaven or hell.

  3. For those whose been reading the new 52, what do you guys think about the following? Those are the ones I had recommended to me, are they any good? And is there anything else from the new 52 that's worth a look?

    - Green Lantern

    - Batman

    - Batwoman

    - Batman: Detective Comics

    - Batman & Robin

    - Aquaman

    - The Flash

    - Superman: Action Comics

    - Justice League

    - All Star Western

    - Swamp Thing

    - Animal Man

I have to echo the sentiment for Green Lantern, I am enjoying it. It is a slow burn too, making you wait for the next issue.

Batman is a really great comic and Court of Owls story is pretty cool, a lot of praise from everyone I have spoken too also.

Swamp Thing and Animal Man I would recommend reading them both. They are basically crossing over the whole way and are excellent, especially Swamp Thing. I have yet to hear one bad thing about Animal Man and I agree, it is also creepy at times and you have no idea what is coming next (at least I feel this way).

I am also reading Justice League International which I think is fun (I like Booster Gold though so..) and I just received issues 1-5 of Aquaman, but I have heard nothing but good things about it also. If I had to rank the comics I would say Swamp Thing, Batman, Green Lantern, Animal Man, Justice League International.

I personally find it weird to read GL, Batman and Justice League (which is why I never picked up Justice League) since I get the characters I really like already without having to deal with Superman and crew also. I have also heard that GL is extremely annoying in Justice League and that turns me off. Hope this helps you make a choice!

  4. I picked up the first issue of Swamp Thing to check it out, the owner of the store told me he highly recommended it also. I basically am reading Green Lantern, Batman, Justice League International and kind of Punisher (just waiting for the books with multiple issues). I am enjoying all of them so far.

  5. It seems that most people's complaints about the show is that it does not follow the comic

Who is actually doing that in this thread? I think it's awesome that they deviate from the comic.

I meant in general, not the forum or thread. I know people that say these things and the article was basically centered around that.

  6. It seems that most people's complaints about the show is that it does not follow the comic and I always ask...so? Michonne was not in the first episode! Oh no! Why would you want to watch a show that you literally have the exact script of at home in the comic? That seems to be the bulk of the argument in that article and the comments being made.

  7. Has anyone picked up any of the rebooted DC comics and enjoyed them? More specifically, the Green Lantern or Green Arrow comics?

I just picked up all the issues of The Green Lantern, with the exception of the fourth one. I'd recommend it, I have only read the first three since I want to read them in order and the story so far is one of my favorites I've read of the new 52.

I also picked up 4 and 6 of Swamp Thing, so I was able to catch up on that and my god! If you have ever read the Alan Moore Swamp Thing, which is one of my favorite string of comics this is almost as good. Definitely worth checking out, can't recommend it enough.

I was never too big on Swamp Thing, so I did not pick it up. Same thing with Animal Man, though I have heard great things. I did pick up some more Green Lantern because I enjoyed it and I am hoping #2 and on from Batman shows up as my comic book shop.

I also picked up Justice League International, so I think those are the three books I am sticking with right now.

  8. Lori is an atrociously written character. What was it, 3 episodes ago, we ended on her essentially telling Rick that he needs to kill Shane to keep them safe, and now she's pissed off about it? This is why everyone hates her, she's maddeningly inconsistent and just comes off as hyper bitchy to everyone, about everything.

Kirkman actually answered this on Talking Dead and he says she is upset at herself. Plus, she did not really seem to get upset until Rick mentioned Carl's involvement.

  9. The Steelers aren't putting the Franchise tag on Mike Wallace, which makes it very likely that they may lose him to a team with deep pockets. They can match any offer for him, but they're strapped for cap space, which is why they aren't franchising him. If Arizona could get him, I think they'd become the definite favorites to land Peyton Manning as well.

The Niners need a deep threat and a number one receiver, they should give up that number one pick (which probably would be a WR..or CB anyways) and pay Mike Wallace. I would be surprised if they do not, the Patriots love getting rid of 1st rounders though.

  10. It's 24 issues and then they finished their run with 2 special issues. I think they were called "Giant Size" 1.1 and 1.2 or something like that. They are easy to find on iPad.

Do you have any suggestions on anything with Mr. Sinister also? Nice to actually know people that read and know about comics to ask this stuff to.

  11. Honestly, the big events usually are way more focused on the main Avengers guys like Cap and Iron Man. The X-Men usually have some sort of tie-in but are rarely central to the plot.

If you want some good Colossus stuff, pick up Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run where he returned after being dead for a few years. The first arc is one of the most universally acclaimed X-Men stories in the last decade if not longer.

I got the whole Joss run for a buck an issue on my ipad and if you love Colussus you will love it. Great stuff

Thanks, I think I will actually check that out then. Looks like about 24 issues and a nice start, have to see if I can get it on my Kindle if it is up on the I-Pad.

  12. The X-Men aren't really super-relevant to Civil War, though, are they? I don't know, it's tough with the X-Men. You could probably start with the two current main titles (Uncanny X-men and Wolverine and the X-Men) and then start picking up other stuff to supplement them like Grant Morrison's run and whatever this Schism thing was.

For Green Lantern, go with either Rebirth or No Fear.

I thought it was a lot of the Marvel characters and included the X-Men, I suppose they are not the focal point though? I just want some Colossus and Gambit, as well as some other interesting characters in a "modern" book.

Thanks for the Green Lantern recommendations though, I need to go to my nearest comic book store and start grabbing books.

  13. I want to get into comics ( my brother had a huge collection and I use to look through his), and was wondering if the Civil War is worth starting from? I am a fan of Colossus and Gambit, so will probably want to stick with X-Men stuff and that seems to be the biggest thing in a while.

I enjoy Green Lantern and was wondering if anyone knew a good book to start on with him?
