  1. Cheers for the heads up Livid. I'm making a take two after i've heard some more suggestions, as i haven't heard every post rock band out there! Only a few, including the ones on the list. And cheers YI. Will check those out too.
  2. Unfortunately it's missing God Is Astronaught, but check it out and hopefully you'll find some new music if you like the genre: http://www.themusicmag.com/best-of/the-10-best-post-rock-bands/
  3. I found a really nice sounding scottish acoustic 4 piece band who are our 2nd featured unsigned artist. Their songs are catchy without being repetitive, nice fun sounding, check them out Created From Silence
  4. whats wrong with godspeed you black emporer YI? From what he's posted, I think he'd like them.

    Gaylist 2009 - #6

Can i add this to the music mag? Or you can, loving the gay list
  6. hmmmmm. How long will you be without the net, that sucks? And odn't worry, Blunt is just a guilty pleasure song, will be better featured videos on there in the near future.
  7. Oi! get yo bitch ass back to corp-x! Pretty avatar!
  8. lol. if you know stiva you know that's the way he writes! Want to be a review writer Ice and YI? I updated the site, all sexified and proper looking now Music Mag Just don't hate for the guilty pleasure video...
  9. GodSpeed You Black Emperor- post rock, instrumental, genius 65daysofstatic - Dance mixed with post rock. A lot of build up and big crashes. Mono - The most amazing japanese band ever. Instrumental, nu-classical. Awesome - if in the right mood. Huge songs, with minutes of build up at a time, but amazing background music or thinking music.
  10. New post which I'm hoping can garner some interest from a few people: Best Chillout Bands
  11. Okay if you're interested for doing fairly regular reviews, probably at least one a week. email me at: craig_priestley@hotmail.com with your: log in name: email address: password: and then i'll add you as an author and you can log in
  12. where do you know that email from ice? I'd prefer to read a review before just giving you status straight away if possible dude - YI your ranting would fit in perfectly with Stiva's.
  13. Alright cool. If you could send me reviews to: craig_priestley@hotmail.com I'll put them up straight away, and then after you've done a couple and i think you'll fit in, i'll add you as an author so you can publish yourself whenever you want. Sites only been live for 5 days or so. Will be shamelessly plugging it on some music forums and the like in the near future. Atm I'm getting interviews with small bands, linking interviews on their sites to attract their fans to the site. I think that's a decent enough strategy now! Look forward to reading the reviews guys. No limits or whatever, just however many words you want.
  14. Looking for the biggest range possible. So all eras, all genres, etc.
  15. Long time no see. New website up and running called The Music Mag (themusicmag.com). We currently have three writers (including the infamous Jordan Stiva). If anybody is trustworthy and interested in doing regular reviews then please reply or PM me. Entries are done using wordpress, which is just a blogging system that I'm sure loads are familiar with. If you're not it only takes 5minutes to learn and I'll take you through it.
  16. not keen on it either...contrasts looks far too high and the details have suffered because of it.
  17. I didn't make it but here's one. Quick google search. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/ink...mmer_banner.png
  18. I either use the erasor tool or a mask and then brush personally. And cool, you'll have to show me how to use the pen tool well for cutting.
  19. well i'm all for using it. I just can't seem to draw things THAT well with it, maybe i need to zoom in and draw more precisely? I can make blocky objects, but when it comes to more designer arty stuff like a cool anime face for a logo or something, i can't do it.
  20. Thanks. Think I'm going to edit the WH Smith's W and i - remove the crossover from the W and remove the dot from the I, and then it sohuld be good enough for the portfolio. I really like the ch weston one, but as you said i can't see a gun shop actually using it because it wouldn't fit their target audience at all unfortunately.
  21. that wouls be similar to the way I'd do it too Studio - I'd probably use a mask, but it's similar. However, this seems to be a very very quick way of doing something. So it's just for those quick changes i guess.
  22. Okay, two new logos designed for my portfolio. Feedback would be appreaited. Rate & hate. WH SMITH - a logo designed to aim specifically at stationary. Designed using basic fonts. The pencil was created with the pen tool and will be the "logo representation" of wh smith - when appearing with no text. NEW VERSION: CH Weston - a new modern logo for a gun store. The first logo I've created using entirly the pen tool. I designed it in rough first and then drew it in Photoshop (very rewarding experience). The gun at first was tricky but it was so damn fun to draw and see the outcome. NEW VERSION: Two very different designs. I tried to make the wh smiths one look professional but slightly arty and the CH Weston one look modern and savvy.
  23. I didn't know whether to post this in here or computing, so please move if it's in wrong place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay I tried google and downloaded some flash photo albums and used that within my website etc but i couldnt get it to work. Basically I have a graphic portfolio on my website, but atm you just click the pictures and they open in a new window. It looks kindof amateurish. What I'd like is for either of these 2 options: 1/ For them to open in like a pop up within the website, so it's a smooth pop up in the middle of the page and it feels like it's part of the website. EG: http://www.lucyreid.co.uk/page3.htm 2/ To have a kindof standard gallery/picture viewer thing on the website that most graphic designers would have. Any help on these?
  24. thank you very much for this I also find the pen tool in photoshop a pain in the ass, mainly because of creating the points and then the lines that come off of it, making it seem smooth is sometimes a bitch and it just gets frustrating. However I do use it as it's a great tool.
