:( Damn, how did I miss this? Just saw his final hour-long show tonight where he announced these changes. I guess you've gotta adapt with the times, and I'm happy he's got so many other projects he's working on, but this kinda bums me out. Been watching Conan loyally since he started in 1993 and I'm sure I'll watch his half-hour show and other stuff too, but its going to be so weird not having the band there, Conan integrated the band members into comedy sketches a lot more than any other talk show hosts do, they were as much a part of the show as anything else. Only one celebrity interview and no musical guests? That's going to take some getting used to, to say the least.

  2. I'm more creeped out that Marty's ancestors in the old west looked just like him and his mom. It makes some sense why Seamus McFly would look similar to Marty, but why would an 1885 Maggie McFly look just like Lorraine Baines in 1955? Seems like there was some in-breeding going on somewhere.

  3. I'd probably rank them, excluding Rogue One and Solo which I haven't seen yet:

    1. Empire Strikes Back

    2. A New Hope

    3. Force Awakens

    4. Last Jedi

    5. Revenge of the Sith

    6. Return of the Jedi

    7. Attack of the Clones

    8. Phantom Menace

Last Jedi ranking may change after I see how they follow it up with Episode IX.

  4. Ok, don't know what you're expecting me to say. I had some criticisms I wish would've been addressed in the movie, maybe it isn't for me. Maybe I was expecting too much. I'm not like some people who will ridiculously deride it for appeasing all the SJW or crap like that. I didn't hate it, I can still watch it and get some enjoyment out of it, its not like the prequels which were just dull and full of terrible dialog.  Its not just that Luke died, its just the way he died didn't do much for me, thought his character deserved a more fitting finale than just disappearing into thin air like Yoda did in ROTJ. I know he can come back as a force ghost in the next one, but just expected a little more to his character arc than what we got. It just didn't tick all the boxes for me is all and some things I wish they had done a little differently, but its whatever.

  5. My problems with the Last Jedi was that it seemed to troll the audience too much with legitimate questions people had after The Force Awakens

What will Luke do now that he has his original lightsaber back? He'll just toss it away because lol.

Who are Rey's parents? Oh, they're nobodies.

What is Snoke's backstory? No, he doesn't have one.....and now he's dead.

Here's Luke to save the day at the last minute, except he's just a projection and then he just dies anyway.

Plus it seemed to force jokes in there too often, just because it works with Marvel movies doesn't mean we have to have everybody be snarky in Star Wars too. The original trilogy had some comedic moments too, but it felt more natural and incidental.

Finn's going to sacrifice himself to stop that cannon, no just kidding Rose will save him at the last second because "love"

And as Mark Hamill has said, Luke was just too much of a departure from who he was in the original trilogy.

It was nice that they finally had Leia use the force, but that flying through space bit was pretty cheesy.

I get Han Solo's death in TFA, Harrison Ford has wanted that for years. But I didn't think they needed to kill of Luke Skywalker too. I can understand why they didn't do it because they didn't want art imitating life with Carrie Fisher, but if anybody would've made sense to die in this one, it would've been Leia. Now they have to use unused footage to bring her back in Episode IX.

They spent too much time on the casino planet and not enough time on parts that would've added to the movie more.

I can understand pushing the future, but it felt like they took the "let the past die, kill it if you have to" a little too literally. There was a way to honor the characters from the past and balance it with the present, but it felt they were pushed to the side too much.

And ultimately, things felt pretty wrapped up at the end. What are we supposed to anticipate in Episode IX? Rey and Kylo fighting again? Kylo and Hux turning on each other? Lando having a bit part? Cameos from Obi Wan, Anakin, Qui Gon maybe? Phasma dying again? That kid at the end being all grown up and ready to be the new Anakin?

Not a big Wanda Sykes fan, myself - at least on screen. I would love to see them just spin the show off without her - given the storylines from this season, it'd actually be pretty easy to write her off and have the show be about the Connors without Roseanne. There'd be plenty of interesting stories to tell and John Goodman/Laurie Metcalf would be very strong leads.

It would be an interesting 180 from how the original series ended, but this time Roseanne is dead, while Dan stays alive. :P

  7. I don't follow the NBA much, but as good of players as there are, the fact that both Eastern and Western conference finals went to 7 games and then the same two teams made the finals for the fourth straight year just feels so scripted. Not saying it is, but man I am sick of both teams.

  8. Just watched the first Star Wars, or a New Hope as I guess its called.

    Spoiler

That guy in the black mask, (Vaydurr I think he's called) is pretty bad ass. Sucks that they killed off Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru so early, feel that totally took away from the story. Then they killed Obee One too! (Why would you close your eyes and just stand there with your lightsaver? Pretty dumb if you ask me.) Totally bummed me out for the rest of the movie. That Luke guy is alright, but don't see any reason why he'd ever stand a chance against Vaydurr. Porkins was more believable, but they killed him off too! Luke probably should've died in that garbage pit, his story arc really didn't go anywhere after that. Was too distracted by the cinnamon bun hairstyle to take any scene with the princess seriously. The guy who played Han Solo was pretty good, but he probably won't have much of a career outside this movie. What's his name Garrison Ford? He should probably take acting lessons from Hayden Christensen. Artudeetu did his best, but was clearly lacking the comedic timing of Jar Jar Binks. And where was that Yoda guy from the first three episodes? Talk about a missed opportunity, hope they use him in the sequel if there is one. Can't say I'll watch that again, guess I'll wait to see how the sequel is though, but unless that bear guy who growls a lot takes down Vaydurr, I don't think there's much hope, especially if they don't use more CGI or talk more about trade negotiations.

So SOME good news, NBC has picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a season 6, after Netflix passed on the show. What's the last time a live action show switched channels?

Also sucks for DS to be cancelled because my mom loved that show. And i'm just around the end of season 1 of The Expanse, and I was interested in continuing it, hopefully it gets a decent wrap up.

I think American Idol being revived by ABC is the most recent example. Scrubs moved to ABC for its final two seasons. Medium also had its last two seasons on CBS.

  10. Damn it, oddly enough I had a bad dream last night that it got cancelled, so this feels kinda prophetic in a way.

Fox doesn't deserve a show as good as that, hope someone else picks it up and it finds new life. One of the consistently funny shows I've seen since Community ended.  I've always liked Andre Braugher since Homicide, but the rest of the cast has been so great as well. Its a damn shame.
