  2. I'll be the first to admit, I was ready to count the Cubs out after they went down 3 games to 1, but they played beautifully the past 2 games. So glad this series is going the distance to game 7 (we haven't had any extra innings games yet have we?). Pulling for the Cubs to do it one more time, but props to both teams either way.

  3. Its pretty bad when the Cubs have to hope they can make it back to Cleveland to have a shot at winning the World Series. Finally making it to the World Series only to be on the verge of losing, at home, just epitomizes the curse even more.

  4. I don't really watch much pro sports honestly. Most of the teams I like are because of the mascots. I like the Cardinals because I imagine actual cardinals playing baseball or football and that seems amusing.

As for local teams, I support the minor league baseball team, though I don't like that they got renamed as the South Bend Cubs when they had their own name for 20 years. (the Silver Hawks, something that actually fit with South Bend being home to Studebaker). They were the South Bend White Sox before that too, come up with your own mascots instead of being offshoots of pro teams. <_<

And I hate Notre Dame with a passion because that's all I ever hear about is how great and wonderful they are. I know plenty of Notre Dame fans who are blue-collar, down to earth people, but a lot of people who go to/work at Notre Dame just seem like pompous, holier than thou, overly religious assholes who are too good to associate with people who don't fit their standards and who are embarrassed to be associated with South Bend. My dad being a Purdue alum may have something to do with it too.

    Lemme do the math.
    THE STREAK ended April 6th, 2014. 4+6+20+14=44
    THIS NUMBER IS RELEVANT.

    Cubs record: 103-58. Equals 45
    Indians record: 94-67. Equals 27
    Therefore, the Cubs win.

Cubs last appeared in the World Series in 1945. 1+9+4+5=19
Indians last appearance was in 1997. 1+9+9+7=26
    Not a clean sweep.

    2+6+1+9=18

18 and 45 are both divisible by 3.
    18/3=6 and 45/3=15
    1+5+6=12
Divide by the two teams in the World Series and The Handsome Luchadore Athletic Commission picks the Chicago Cubs to win in SIX games.

Hey this is my gimmick and you used it on my birthday no less. That's a paddlin'

  6. After the Red Sox broke their long drought in 2004, then the White Sox broke their slightly longer drought in 2005 (both of which were done in 4-0 shutouts), its amazing that its taken another 11 years for 2 more teams with long droughts (Cleveland since 1948 and the Cubs since 1908) to make it to the World Series to end one of their droughts as well.

Being from north central Indiana, I feel like I could cheer for either team, but I've gotta go with the Cubs. 2016 has been a cursed year for a lot of things, so it would be pretty fitting if one of the biggest curses was finally definitively broken.
