  1. Ubisoft today announced that its Montreal studio is currently developing an all-new entry in the Prince of Persia series for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Nintendo DS.

“Prince of Persia is opening a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe, featuring a new breed of gameplay. The game is poised to rejuvenate the action-adventure genre in addition to introducing a brand-new illustrative art style,” reads today's press release.

In comparison to the home console and PC iterations, the Nintendo DS installment will reportedly feature a “an entirely new storyline and new characters.” Further details will be released next month.

I'm quite glad. Something I actually want to play on the PS3

  2. Given that your 'Wii Fit Age' is only 38, am I to take that they're slightly less harsh than in other games (like Wii Sport) where getting it below 50 is an achievement and a half? ¬_¬

I dunno, unlike Wii Sports the Wii Fit age range is 2 to 99 (according to the manual), though I've no idea how you'd get an age of 2. My Wii Sports age is 26 at the moment, having varied from 20 to 32 recently.

  3. Has anyone else got this game yet, or planning on getting it? I got it today and most of the family have played on it as well. My stats are thus:

    Overweight

    BMI - Can't remember, 27.something

    Real Age - 20

    Wii Fit Age - 38 (+18 Years)

    Goal - Lose 7lb in 2 weeks.

I'm finding this game very enjoyable actually, especially the tightrope walking game and the Yoga excercises. I spent a while mastering The Tree position this afternoon. I also have a Wii Fit sweatband (from ONM) and got a free Wii Fit drinks bottle for pre-ordering, which proved quite useful after the initial 30 minutes.

  4. I was so pumped when I heard I can have BOTH a Hitmonchan and a Hitmonlee through in game means. However sad when I found out I had to somehow... make defense more than attack... what the? I'm going to have to buy Irons and shit aren't I?

No, you can do it by breeding too.

    ATTACK + natures (For Hitmonlee)

    Lonely, Brave, Adamant, Naughty

    DEFENSE + natures (For Hitmonchan)

    Bold, Relaxed, Impish, Lax

    No change (For Hitmontop)

    Hardy, Docile, Serious, Quirky, Bashful

If you level these nature Tyrogue's up normally, they should evolve in to each one.

That's not the whole story though. IVs complicate it a bit further.

You can EV train, though, and while it won't be significant differences you may see enough of a difference at such a low level to get the Hitmon you want.

Yeah, I didn't wanna start throwing terms like IVs, EVs and DVs out there. That's when casual fans brains begin to ache.

  5. Having only seen the old Sontarons on Wikipedia somewhere, I was quite happy with how these guys looked and their thing of having to always face forward. I also like that in this series the sonic screwdriver is now seen as a child's plaything by most of the villains.

As someone else said, the genius guy also reminded me of Johnathon from Buffy, which is a good thing. I hope he lives through whatever is coming.

I was hoping for some naked Freema when her clone arose but no... I demand a clone fight though, and for Martha to have to hurry in to the TARDIS for some reason or another instead of strolling in after everything is nice and peaceful.

  7. Evolve Graveler if you can if you really want to bring it. I can trade you it back for it to evolve if you need, but that's the one I'd drop. Also, you don't need two Water types, ditch Gyarados for a grass type, Torterra if you can get one, if not try Carnivine.

For Graveler, I'm not sure, shall have a think.

  8. I think it's more that he can request Smokey's assistance, or he can influence it as Benji says.

Also, did any of you notice Ben's jacket? It has a new DHARMA logo on as well as the name "Halliwax" which is the name that Marvin Candle (whom stars in the Orientation films) uses.

Concerning Alpert. Middling - Major spoiler

Nestor Carbonell stars in at least two episodes this season and returns properly next season, and based on other rumours I've read he is at Locke's birth, and Locke's school.

    Something Nice Back Home

    It's a Jack flashforward
  9. The games that came with the Wii were simple sports which you could participate in with the use of a wii mote and a nun chuck, however a stripper game utilising the Wii fit board could add a some fun to your life especially if it supports wifi....

Peekabo a stripper pole company announced that it is working on a strip aerobics game on the Wii, "Peekaboo is pleased to confirm that it is in talks to develop a game for the Nintendo Wii that meets mainstream demand for the fun and fitness benefits of pole dancing," the company said in an e-mailed statement. "Peekaboo and its partners are focused on using Wii-friendly hardware to make aerobic pole dancing instantly accessible just as 'Guitar Hero' did for rock'n'roll." "It would be natural for the platform. … That's the Wii's strength," "If you wanted to create a stripper poll game, this would be the system you'd target." said Rob Enderle.

Not sure what to say on that really.

  10. So with the new game recently announced I'm now itching to play Armageddon or start a new save (I think my old one got deleted anyways) on Deception because I love Shujinko's story mode and I prefer Onaga as a boss to Blaze. Yeah Deception.

On other notes, what are peoples favourite games, and characters and the like? When did you start really playing?

I played MK II very briefly round a friend's house, and soon after he had MKIII which seemed a hell of a lot better and it didn't take us long to discover a few tricks (Shang's Goro transformation fatality, Reptile's invisible fatality mode, I'm still annoyed Reptile lost that ball projectile move). My favourites, I'm gonna have to go by game to current.

Favourites have got to be (trying to limit it) - Cyrax, Sektor, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Kenshi, Shujinko, Scorpion, Dead Liu Kang

  11. Mortal Kombat is getting a major makeover. For the first original installment on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Midway is not only tinkering with some of the fundamental features of the long-running fighting franchise, it's going to feature a crossover cast of characters pulled from the pages of DC Comics.

That means Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will feature Sub-Zero and Scorpion taking on the likes of Superman and Batman. Other characters from each universe have yet to be confirmed for the game, but Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon told GameSpot the developers were looking for counterparts between the two brands.

The new characters won't be the only changes to the Mortal Kombat formula. Comic fans would no doubt cry foul if Superman dismembered an opponent and then proceeded to beat him to death with his own limbs, so Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe won't carry the familiar M for Mature rating.

As for the storyline excuse for the crossover, some unspecified climactic event causes the Mortal Kombat and DC universes to begin merging. Each world sees itself as being attacked by the other, and their respective characters join the fight to repel the strange invaders. To help pen the tale, Midway has enlisted comic creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Grey. The two have worked together previously on a number of DC and Marvel comics including Jonah Hex and Shana the She-Devil.

First reaction: Erm...right. Not exactly the way I though Mortal Kombat was headed, but it seems like it's a spin-off title and some MK spin-offs are okay. As long as we do get a new group of Mortal Kombat characters to replace some of the shoddy ones given lately (Taven, Jarek and that Hwoarang rip-off bloke)

  12. Looks like Kojima Jr. isn't the only one disappointed with Metal Gear Solid. The latest issue of the UK's Edge magazine contains an interview with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who expresses disappointment with the latest game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It isn't so much the gameplay itself as it is the graphics.

"Game-wise, it's pretty close to the original vision: you sneak into the battlefield and can choose whether to do a stealth game or interfere with the battle more directly. But the graphic, side things like motion-blending and the size of the map, totally was not accomplished to my original vision - to my satisfaction.

Now Kojima is a well-known perfectionist, but it is a bit disturbing to see him voice his dissatisfaction with what is supposed to be the masterpiece of the franchise. So where does he lay the blame for not fully realizing his vision?

"When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one step, which isn't to say we didn't progress.

So there was certainly progress made, but not enough progress...or more specifically, not enough power for progress. Apparently the team overestimated what the PlayStation 3 was capable of.

I remember saying three years ago that we wanted to create something revolutionary, but in reality we couldn't really do that because of the CPU. We're using the Cell engine to its limit., actually. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the PS3 machine, it's just that we weren't really aware of what the full-spec PS3 offered - we were creating something we couldn't entirely see.

Well there you have it, straight from the man himself. Metal Gear Solid 4 is not revolutionary. Personally I think the man is being a bit hard on himself, but that's what great minds do.

  13. My nan used to play on my old Amstrad when I was a kid. I thought I was good on the Olympics game I had (waggling the joystick to make the cyclist sprint around the track) but my nan showed me how a true pro did it.

That reminds me of how I used to think I was ace at Track & Field on PS1, until my dad played and shattered all the world records.

  14. There was an advert for Wii Fit on earlier (which I plan to purchase anyways) and both of my parents mentioned they'd like to get it, which I found a bit odd as it's not a game I initially thought they would want to play, but it's easy to control, fun and supposedly makes you fit.

Also, my grandmother bought Phantom Hourglass the other week for her DS and has nearly completed the whole thing. She's usually on it when I see her and we've had a few Mario Kart races and Phantom battles in Phantom Hourglass and she loves it. It was a little wierd at first, but now it's a normal thing to be able to play against my grandparents in video games, either on DS or Wii.

I don't really think I could get my grandparents to play much of a Playstation game though, and barring Crash Of The Titans and Wii Sports (and now Wii Fit) my mother doesn't play many games. I think the last time she was on the PS2 was to play Crash Bandicoot 2...

What about the older people you know? Gamers or not?
