  1. Tennis is by far the best game on Wii Sports, with Golf on the bottom. (These rankings have nothing to do with my Pro statuses :shifty:

Volleyball'd be cool, holding the Wiimote and Nunchuck close and hitting the ball up. Basketball too, perhaps.

  2. The president of Enterbrain, which is the parent company of the highly regarded Japanese games magazine Famitsu, claims Nintendo may unveil a new version of its best-selling DS handheld system in July.

Hirokazu Hamamura said: "Nintendo might be readying to show off the third iteration of its handheld system later this year during the E3 Media and Business Summit".

Nintendo chief Reggie Fils-Aime has previously said his firm is planning some "fantastic" announcements for this year's E3 exhibition in Los Angeles.

Responding to the claims, however, a Nintendo UK spokesman told MCV that the firm "doesn’t comment on rumour or speculation”.

This year's three-day E3 show will run from Tuesday, July 15.

What could you really change on it? Take away the GBA port, or allow GBA wireless connectivity via the usual DS way, or maybe online PictoChat (as the DS manuals now note it is an offline chat service)?

I think that's all. We have a Commodore and an Amiga that I'm not sure still work, but I think they belong to my stepdad.

  5. A new study of computer gamers has found that a session in front of World of Warcraft can make players less stressed and more calm..

The study questioned 292 male and female online gamers aged between 12 and 83 about anger and stress. They then played the game for two hours and were retested.

"There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger, but this very much depended on personality type," said team leader Jane Barnett from Middlesex University.

"This will help us develop an emotion and gaming questionnaire to distinguish the type of gamer who is likely to transfer their online aggression into everyday life."

Barnett's paper was presented at the British Psychological Society's annual conference in Dublin.

The conference also heard that people who play computer games obsessively display similar characteristics to those suffering from Asperger syndrome.

Dr John Charlton, of the University of Bolton, and Ian Danforth, of Whitman College in the US, found that the personalities of gamers became more akin to Asperger sufferers the deeper their addiction becomes.

This is typically characterised by neuroticism, and lack of extraversion and agreeableness.

"The thinking in the field is that there is a scale along which people, even those considered to be 'normal', can be placed on," said Dr Charlton.

"And that people such as engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists are nearer to the non-empathising, systemising end of the spectrum, with people with Asperger syndrome even further along again.

"Our research supports the idea that people who are heavily involved in game playing may be nearer to autistic spectrum disorders than people who have no interest in gaming."

Nice to see a study not knocking video games for once.

  6. So I'm once again installing this game but I want to play it without getting bored quick. Last couple of times I started a game, went for 2 days of in game time and then just didn't look at it again. Anyone got any advice as to how to keep the game fresh and interesting (without cheating)?

Just try and write yourself a storyline in advance, as though you were writing a diary and then fuck with your original storyline from time to time.

  7. In rankings of humour:

    1 - Joey

    2 - Chandler

    3 - Phoebe

    4 - Monica

    5 - Ross

    6 - Rachel

    In ranking of attractiveness:

    1 - Phoebe

    2 - Rachel

    3 - Monica

    4 - Joey

    5 - Chandler

    6 - Ross

Ross just isn't that funny to me until later on

  8. So, I'm sat here watching Return To Oz (Hey, it's awesome, fuck you) and I IMDBed it to see if any of the actors were still in acting jobs or not. Fairuza Balk whom plays Dorothy Gale is actually the woman from Waterboy!

    return-to-oz-a.jpgfairuza-balk-2.jpg

Another one is a clearly obvious one, but if you didn't know it was her it might seem a bit odd. First one is from Labyrinth, second one is how she looks now.

zOMG! It's Jennifer Connelly! Yeah, so use this thread for comparing actors when they were young as to how they are now.

  9. Finally defeated the E4 and Cynthia tonight J, thanks for the advice on bring my Luxray back into the team, his crunch took out that Allakhazam that was causing me much trouble.

    =)

Awesome, now let me know when you beat the Battle Tower Tycoon. (Y)

  10. Okay, had to buy a Freeloader and Brawl. Me and Benji are playing SSE and

have just gotten past Bowser destroying Dedede's place.

EDIT: Okay, now we've just started actual Subspace and have collected all the trophies from the first level as far as I know.

Also my friend code is 2492-4173-6992

  11. I have played the Xenosaga series, I'll probably go through and replay the first game.. well, today, actually.

J: I haven't actually played Dark Cloud, but my friend raved about it when it came out and I've seen him play it. Is it as fun as everyone says? I guess so.

EDIT: wannabe.. don't make me shank you. Xenosaga easily tops Final Fantasy Anything as my favourite RPG ever. Well, the first and third ones do. Second one blew.

Dark Cloud is pretty good, the system takes a little getting used to.

  12. Maybe a ban on bred in moves is in order, keep it natural only so more advanced players have no advantage.

    What? That's just stupid.

Newbie: Ok, got my level 15 Piplup ready to go.

J/Benji: Go Turtwig, use mega super duper drain!

    SUPER EFFECTIVE, OHKO.

Newbie: That's not fair. Screw this, i'm not playing again.

Aye, I used my back up Togekiss in the battle, my regular one had Air Slash, Metronome, ExtremeSpeed & Aura Sphere. All very damaging early on.
