To be fair, thats due to the style of football changing drastically since the days of Johnny U. Passing back then was more vertical, and completion percentages were lower due to that, and the lessened rules on defensive backs. The game is geared towards the offense now, making it much easier. Hell, Joe Namath has a career completion percentage of 50, and more interceptions than touchdowns. That's my point, some analysts will point to passer rating to put one QB over another.

Let me just add FSU has added Oklahoma for home/away and then WVU home/away the two years after that, they were signed last season I believe. So they recognize what the out of conference scheduling does for the BCS and getting voters early on (OSU/UT, OSU/USC coming up, Cal/Tenn, etc). But I agree with DMN that rivalry games don't count.

That's just a flat lie. The year they were left out they lost to an unranked team whereas LSU and Oklahoma lost to ranked teams. That's pretty clear cut, black & white to me.
