NBA Draft Lottery Thread

The number of chances that each team gets is determined by their record. Here is a list of teams and the number of chances each will get for 2004.

Team chances

250 Orlando Magic

200 Chicago Bulls

157 Washington Wizards

105 Atlanta Hawks

104 Los Angeles Clippers

64 Phoenix Suns

37 Toronto Raptors

36 Philadelphia 76ers

18 Cleveland Cavaliers

9 Golden State Warriors

9 Seattle Sonics

6 Portland Trail Blazers

5 Utah Jazz

Note that there aren't 1000 lottery balls, only 14. The NBA will draw four of the 14 balls. This gives 1001 possible combinations; 1000 of the combinations are assigned to teams and 1 isn't. The draw will be redone if the combination isn't assigned or belongs to a team that won an earlier pick

The Bobcats get the 4th pick automatically I believe.

The Draft Lottery is live on ABC tonight at 8

I'd be happy to see anyone but Orlando get it, since they can't keep top talent for long anyway. I wouldn't be stunned to see the Cavs win it again though, igniting conspiracy theories.

Results are:

1. Orlando

2. L.A. Clippers

3. Chicago

4. Charlotte

5. Washington

6. Atlanta

7. Phoenix

8. Toronto

9. Philadelphia

10. Cleveland

11. Golden State

12. Seattle

13. Portland

14. Utah

So the only unexpected result was Clippers getting the 2nd pick instead of the 5th pushing everyone else down a pick.
