OK, I was thinking about this, what one song is the most underrated for any band. Like for me, the most underrated Judas Priest song is "Fever" from Screaming for Vengeance. Just love that song. You guys can add any band you want, just want to see what you think is that certain bands most underrated song.

Soundgarden - Let Me Drown

Nirvana - Lounge Act

Alice In Chains - Hate To Feel

Tool- Ticks And Leeches

Deftones - Street Carp

These are some songs from my favourite bands that when people mention the bands, they usually mention good songs other than these.

Strutter by KISS

One of their more underrated tunes. I think.

Agreed, I'm not a fan of them by any means, but this is a great song that people overlook.

As for my picks...

Alice Cooper - Desperado

Black Sabbath - Electric Funeral

Dead Kennedys - A growing boy needs his lunch

The Doors - Wintertime Love

Jimi Hendrix - Stone Free

Circle Jerks - Operation

Link Wray - Big City After Dark

Most of these might be quite odd, but whatever.

The Smiths - Ask, Oscillate Wildly, Some Girls are Bigger Than Others,

The Beatles - Tell Me Why, Day Tripper, Back in the USSR,

John Lennon - Jealous Guy,

Paul McCartney - The entire 'Pipes of Peace' album,

Radiohead - Paranoid Android, Subterranean Homesick Alien,

Cranberries - Ode to my Family, Promises, Just my Imagination,

Oasis - The entire 'Be Here Now' album except Magic Pie,

Eric Clapton - Strange Brew,

Jimi Hendrix - Dolly Dagger, Freedom, Little Wing,

Blur - Stereotypes, Mr Robinson and his Quango, Ernold Same,

and so on.

These are songs which aren't so much underrated songs from a respected artist, but songs from bands that aren't seen as 'cool' or whatever that I actually really like...

Anything by McFly (seriously, check the musicianship out!),

Ringo Starr solo work,

Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me,

Ashlee Simpson - Autobiography,

Alanis Morrissette - You Oughta Know, Eight Easy Steps,

Patrick Wolf - about everything he's ever done.

Yeah.

Agreed on everything except for Nazi Punks Fuck Off. It seems alot of people that name Dead Kennedys songs name this one first, it always seem to be up there with Holiday In Cambodia, Kill the Poor, and California Uber Alles. Maybe it's the regions we live in, but I've found that Nazi Punks Fuck Off is almost always mentioned as one of the "popular" Dead Kennedys song.

By the way, Riot is a fucking wonderful song. I'm glad you mentioned it.

Have never heard anybody mention Paranoid Android, except for me and my friend Grace, and we're both huge fans so that doesn't count really.

The Sixpence None The Richer and Ashlee Simpson songs were more in terms of critical acclaim, in a serious sense, than commercial success. You'd never get the NME covering Ashlee's album, for example, and I haven't heard anything from Sixpence None The Richer in the music press for years, and even then it seemed that people looked on them as a one-trick pop pony.

They're both actually very talented recording artists.

The Beatles - Tell Me Why, Day Tripper, Back in the USSR,

Day Tripper is one of the Beatles most covered songs and Back In The USSR gets alot of praise as well. I wouldn't call those underrated.

I'd go with Yer Blues (what an awesome, awesome vocal), Don't Let Me Down (another awesome, awesome vocal), She's Leaving Home (almost as good as A Day In The Life imo) and I've Just Seen A Face (total mesmerising song, gets in your head and you can't get it out),.

Green Day: Jesus of Suburbia

Metallica: Sanitarium & Fade to Black

Especially with regards to the new album, Jesus Of Surburbia is probably the most pimped song, so I wouldn't say it was under-rated.

And I'm kinda 50/50 on the Metallica songs you mentioned.....I dunno if they are under-rated that much, maybe just slightly over shadowed.

not sure now the difference between underrated and overlooked..

nobody i know has rated these songs poorly, but after a brief radio stint when they came out, they haven't been played since in my town:

Tom Petty: Night Watchman

Alice Cooper: We're All Clones

Diesel: Sausalita Summer Nights

Donny Iris: Love is like a Rock
