In over my fucking head

Yeah so in my infinite wisdom I decided that I would have a texas hold 'em tourney for my 21st birthday party.

The only problem is I have no idea how to split up the chips or what not. I've got 400 chips

145 White

105 Red

105 Blue

65 Green

80 Black

what should I make each one stand for (I'm expecting around 15 people) also would it be wise to buy some more chips? (so far I'm already over $50 in the hole just on chips).

Edit- put in accurate numbers

You'll need more chips for fifteen people. Once you get more, tell me how many total, and I can help you divide it.

Edit: I just noticed the in the hole comment, in which case, I supposed a game would be possible on the chips you have, so if you can't afford more, i'll give you something to work with on what you have.

Also, I found this site which should be helpful, if you have any questions past what is there, ask away.

What you need is a specialty games shop.

Although places like KMart and Big W do stock them occasionally

Check Argos, they do poker chip sets too. Like this one. You can get some a lot cheaper, though.

Thanks.

I brought a fairly cheap set from Argos a while ago, complete with chips, cards, a green mat thing and instructions for idiots.

How cheap?

If you're using chips I suggest forming a pool. Get everyone to put $20 in and the person with the most chips at the end of the night gets the pool. That way people won't just fuck around and ruin the game. Me and my mates usually just use small change.

Well doing the math 500 chips divided between 15 people. That is 33 chips per a person with 5 chips left over. Figure that the blinds are one chip and two chips then you have 16.5 hands you can play without a raise. That is very little.

What color are the 100 chips you bought?

I bought the same thing, it's £12.99 in Argos

Awesome.

My mate works in Argos, too. So yay for staff discounts.

Definately picking that up.
