Rome Masters Final

Did anyone see it?

I only caught the last set because of the football but it was a bloody epic! It lasted 5 hours and the commentators were both saying it was one of the best tennis matches they have watched. I am going to have to catch the repeat. Nadal will be the number 1 soon and I think he will stay there for a long time, he is amazing.

Nadal def. Coria 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6) in 5 hours, 14 minutes! Henman lost in the 3rd round to Hrbaty.

Nadal's not catching Federer any time soon, unless you mean the ATP Race for the # 1 on the season in which he's 10 points back now. I think Rafael will be better on clay throughout their careers, but Federer's better on hard courts and the benefit he gets at Wimbledon neutralizes any losses he'd suffer at the French. Nadal would be my guess to be the guy that eventually passes him, but as of this past week Federer had a monster lead. . .

1 - Federer, 6640 points

2 - Hewitt, 4195

3 - Roddick, 3515

4 - Safin, 3145

5 - Gaudio, 2300

6 - Henman, 2155

7 - Nadal, 2100

In fact, Federer's edge over the # 2 player (2445) in the world is LARGER than Nadal's total points, and would be enough to rank him # 4!
