Don't Beleive The Truth

Recommended Posts

I just bought it and it's suprisingly good. It was given so much bad publicity before it was even released by most newspapers. It sounds different to anything they have ever done before and has about 5 good songs, obviously isn't as good as the first 2 albums but I'd put it above Be Here Now, Heathen Chemistry and Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.

Anybody else bought it/heard it?

Well I bought it yesterday, but had it since the start of May when it got leaked. I agree with you that I would put it as their third best. My two favourite songs are The Importance of Being Idle and Part of the Queue. Quite a lot of reviews have been critical of it for some reason.

I must say i was really surprised when i first listened to it. I was a huge Oasis fan back when Definitely maybe and Morning Glory were released. I still liked Be Here Now a lot even if i didn't find it to be as good as the previous 2. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was a HUGE disappointment, and later that, coupled with the fact that i didn't like the singles of Heathen Chemistry, even made me not get said album (the first Oasis album i wasn't getting).

I wasn't expecting to get this album either but as i got the opportunity of getting it for free i checked it out without any good expectations at all. Turn up the Sun drowned my expectations even more... but after that one, which i don't like at all, came 5 good songs. This sequence alone put the album above Standing the Shoulder of Giants in my preferences even if there wasn't any more songs. Then there was Guess God thinks I'm Abel, which in my opinion is the second worse song on the Album, and that's about it when talking about bad songs on this album. Part Of the Queue is amazing and in my opinion the best song on the album. The songs that follow it are Keep the Dream Alive and A Bell Will Ring which are also very good songs. Let there Be Love is a good closer, and i like albums to close that way.

As a whole this album is miles above SoTSoG which was very good considering the expectations i had. I still don't think it's anything as good as the first two but still i like it a lot.
