It's pretty sad the state of Scottish football.  So many of Liverpool's greats were Scottish, and it would be great to keep that tradition going, but there aren't any scots good enough at the moment.

The British Isles = Great Britain and Eire/Ireland/Republic Of Ireland.

Great Britain = England, Scotland and Wales

The United Kingdom = England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island.

The British Isles is just a geographical name for the islands of Britain and Ireland.
