Chelsea finances

Recommended Posts

They wouldn't be as screwed as bad as what happened at Leeds, I think that Chelsea own the Chelsea villiage and the stadium, so they can sell those off if the shit hit the fan. They'd have to get rid of a load of players tho to help the wage bill. And then I am sure alot of cheeky Arsenal and Man U fans will point and laugh.

Chelsea's current wage bill alone would almost be enough to crush the club if Abramovich was to pull the plug.

The fact that they can persuade players to join them who had previously stated otherwise, shows the extent to which money becomes involved. The players they have bought under Mourinho have all been overpriced and surely overpaid, if they no longer had Roman's bankroll, they could not afford to pay them on an income of a 'normal club'. As far as I know, when Abramovich took over the club he paid off all debt at that time. Currently they still owe a lot of money through transfers and sponsorship, money which is owed through the club and not the owner. Once again, if Abramovich is to leave, Chelsea would struggle to pay it all back at a reasonable rate.
