40 Below Summer Breaks Up

I just went to see if any new songs were released onto 40BelowSummer.com and found out that they are officially done as of September 17, 2005 when they have one last concert together. This is one of my favorite bands and it sucks that they will break up.

From theprp.com

40 Below Summer have decided to call it a day and will play a final show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on September 17th with all of the bands original members. It will be filmed for a DVD that the band will sell through their official website at a later date. Despite the end of 40 Below Summer, the remaining members of the band, frontman Max Illidge, guitarist Joe D'Amico and bassist Hector Graziani, will continue on together under the moniker of Black Market Hero. Also in the line-up are Ryan Jurhs of Flaw fame on guitars and drummer Ali Nassar. The band will open the aforementioned 40 Below Summer show.

All of these bands just tend to sound pretty inter-changeable to me, so them breaking up, and the majority of them forming a new band is a bit of a meh-point, really.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I like 40 Below Summer...they just aren't anything overly special, and I doubt they wll do much different with the new band.

Meh, I was never big into 40 Below Summer. They had some ok songs, but they didn't do anything for me really. Don't get me wrong, a few of my favorites bands are "numetal" like Sevendust, Nonpoint, 36 Crazyfists, but to me 40 Below Summer didn't bring anything to the table that was different. Bands like the ones I mentioned, to me personally, add their own unique touch to numetal keeping them safe from sounding like random numetal group #24501, while I personally felt like 40 Below Summer was kind of just another carbon copy band.

Still, they had their moments. I really liked the song Self Medicate.
