PS2 Problem

I've started having a weird problem with my PS2. It constantly ejects the CD tray. I hit the blue button, and the tray goes in, but the light doesn't stop blinking and a second or two later, the tray ejects. I know I've brought it on myself using a slidetool and the like, but is there anything I can do to put an end to this irritating behaviour? It won't even read a disc, because they aren't in there long enough to be read. Please don't tell me to get a new console because I'm broke, it's not an option. Any other remedy beyond tapping it, shaking it, blowing the dust out and yelling at it would be appreciated.

Unscrew it, blow out all the dust and make a half-hearted attempt at prodding the insides with a screwdriver before closing it up again.

Worked when I had a serious problem with mine!

Yeah, I tried opening it up, but one of the screws was awkward. I'd unscrewed it as far as I could, but it was still stuck and wouldn't come out, so I couldn't get the case properly off.
