Recommend Me An Album

Recommended Posts

OK, I'm looking for an album to listen to. Something a bit 'spacey' for lack of a better term. Something sort of relaxing, that I can submerge myself into listening. Erm...perhaps some examples would help. Along the lines of Sigur Ros, or The Sound Of Animals Fighting, or something like that. It's a bit hard for me to describe really. Told you it was particular. >_>. But yeah, it needs to be an album, and preferably something I can 'aquire' easily.

SUNN 0))) - Black One

Earth - Earth 2

Khanate - Khanate

Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer

Boris - Pink

Pelican - Australasia

Drone Doom is one of the coolest things happening in music right now. So check some of that out.

EDIT - Forgot to put the best album by each.

Rua by Clann Zu

With an ensemble featuring violin and keys, along with a traditional four piece setup, Clann Zú create beautiful dark melodies ranging from the intimate and sparse, to the huge and dramatic. The bilingual vocals (Irish and English) of Waterford born, Declan de Barra are intense and passionate, with lyrical themes running from dispossession, cultural reclamation and resistance, to hopelessness and desperation. Although drama can often be a simile for pretension, Clann Zú execute it genuinely and gracefully, managing to create honest and punishingly beautiful songs.

I'm officially converted to Isis and Pelican fandom. Boris is taking a while to arrive. Couldn't find anything by the others =/

Love Portishead, just never tried an entire album. Shall give that a shot. And Kyuss is always good.

iLiKETRAiNS are very good for submerging yourself into. It's so chilled, quite haunting. They just released an EP recently, "Progress Reform". Amazing stuff. From the sounds like thing on their myspace - "As an outfit iLiKETRAiNS have a welter of influences. Musically, Sigur Ros, Mum and Radiohead, lyrically, Nick Cave, Morrissey and Pulp, and visually the Velvet Underground and Cornelius."
