2006 WSOP

With just a week left before the Main Event gets under way, I figured it'd be nice to have a topic going for this.

Winners, Events, and Runner Up can been seen via this link: Results

So far, a few names have been making an impact. Phil Hellmuth came close to winning his 10th bracelet, while Joe Hachem continues to have a strong showing. In addition to that 2nd place finish, Ihe made a 4th place finish at the $2500 Pot Limit Hold 'Em event, as well as a 5th place finish in the circuit events.

The big story to me is Jeff Madsen. 21 year old kid, borrows money from his parents, and not only wins one, but two events. Double fun, he's also the youngest winner in WSOP history. Hats off too him. I wonder what he can do in the Main Event. In addition to those two remarkable feets, he also finished third in the $2500 Omaha Hi/Lo Split Event.

Speaking of which, Daniel Negreanu placed 7th in that event, and also netted a Circuit title.

Right now, 4 events are currently in Progress. Seven Card Razz (with former champion Juan Carlos Mortensen as chip leader at the final table), Pot Limit Hold 'Em, and two NLH events (featuring Greg Raymer ranking 2nd in total chips at the moment, and Negreanu just busting out).

Updates will follow as the events progress.

It'd be nice one day to play in one of the events, even some of the lower buyin tourneys. The $1500 razz tourney would probably be a draw for me, or one of the cheaper hold-em tourneys.

I consider myself somewhat profiecent in razz, but after seeing who all was in it, it has me thinking "Gee, I don't know".

Definantly the smaller NLH games.

Back to today...

Carlos Mortensen finishes in second place in the $1500 Razz event, losing to James Richburg.

Phil Hellmuth continues to have an impressive showing at this years WSOP, finishing 3rd in the $1000+1000 Rebuy NLH event. Hassan Habib was also at that final table.

I'm leaving Wednesday to play in the main event. We got a room at Paris until the 13th but who knows how long I'll actually stay in it. Might just turn into an extended vacation.

Good luck.

I'm heading to Vegas next year on my vacation time. I might just spend a weekend in October over at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa playing in one of there more expensive NLH games.

Oh, and Pepsi, doesn't the Main Event end on the 10th? You should be done by then, even if you win.

Yeah but we're staying for our anniversary which is on the 11th.

Well, more good luck, and here's to hoping that Norman Chad doesn't find out about the anniversary :shifty:

Hmm, not too sure if my amte is still in this or not. The fact he hasn't texted me recently suggests he is.

What's his name?

Shit is going to hit the fan today in the $1000+1000 Rebuy No Limit Hold 'Em event. Sitting at the final table is Phil Hellmuth (With the chip lead, 786K) and Tony G (Shortstacked at 77K).

I think I'm going to root for Phil on this one. Yeah, he talks a lot of shit, but he's arguably the greatest tournament Hold 'Em player in history. I'd like to see him pick of the 10th bracelet just to tie Chan and Brunson.

I would like to go to Vegas sometime. In the meanwhile, I live less than an hour from Foxwoods. My college is under 2 from there. I was there yesterday, played some 1-2 NL hold'em, left up 25 (but was up at least 115 at one point)

Earlier this morning, Phil Hellmuth won his tenth bracelet, winning the $1000+1000 Rebuy NLH Event.

So, I heard that the Main Event was going to be live, I mean LIVE LIVE, on PPV, well, the final table.

I'm not too keen on ordering it, considering how long the final tables usually last.

And also, I suppose you could call him a rookie sensation, but Jeff Madsen, the youngest bracelet winner in history (Currently with 2 Bracelets, and another final table appearance at this year's WSOP), has just made ANOTHER final table, this time in Stud 8/B.

Where did this kid come from?!

Also, in the NL 2-7 Lowball event, 19 players remain, among them David Williams, Greg Raymer, Tony G, Men the Master, Allen Cunningham, and Mike Matusow.

I'm pulling for a final table with Matusow, Raymer, and Williams. I think that'd be a fine battle, and hopefully we'll get Raymer/Mike heads up.
