WWE 2006 - ECW Is Gone - Draft Lottery Time

Recommended Posts

Okay, this is my first ever diary here in EWB, so be gentle.

Vince McMahon's Desk - 8:42pm

Vince McMahon was sat at his desk, thinking about the future of the wrestling industry. He wanted a change. He wanted a change that would shock every wrestling fan out there. That's it! He had thought of an idea to do everything he had wanted. He decided that's there's going to be a draft lottery. Only this time, it was different. It was different, mainly because, this draft lottery would draft every single worker in the WWE.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown! Preview

There will be massive (literally) tag-team match to main-event SmackDown this week, when Batista & the World Champion Rey Mysterio face giants Mark Henry and The Great Khali. Who will stand tall when this blockbuster match takes place?

A United States champion will be crowned when a 10-man battle royal takes place. The entrants are as follows; AJ Styles (debutant), Bobby Lashley, Ken Kennedy, Stevie Richards, Test, Kevin Fertig, Johnny Nitro, CM Punk (debutant), Carlito and Matt Striker. Who will be the victor as 10 great competitors go at it for the gold?

Also, Gregory Helms defends the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against none other than former Hooligan, Brian Kendrick! Will Kendrick stop Helms' great run? Or will experience pay off?

Last but certainly not least, The Highlanders make their SmackDown debut! An opposition haven't been confirmed just yet!

Plus more only on Friday Night SmackDown! on UPN!

WWE Friday Night SmackDown!

The show started with Batista and Rey backstage, sitting next to each other. Rey tried to talk to Batista but he ignored most of what Rey was saying. It was certain that something was up with Batista. Rey was very surprised at this. Batista was never like this, Rey knew something was up.

The first match of the evening was a short match where Joey Mercury defeated Vito after a Super Kick. Mercury looked in good shape throughout, and even went high-risk during this match. WWE are pleased with the outcome, and welcome Mercury back from rehab.

Carlito was backstage with Maria. She made the few usual deliberate mistakes and Carlito took the piss out of her like usual. Carlito said he's going to take over SmackDown!, because SmackDown! isn't cool.

Teddy Long was backstage, he announced that Rey will defend the World Title at SummerSlam.

It was time for The Highlanders to make their first appearance on SmackDown! Their opponents were an

unlikely team of bad-asses, Hardcore Holly and Mike Knox. The Highlanders got the win after a Scot Drop on Holly. Knox looked unhappy with Holly, but Holly walked to the back with his head down in shame.

Next, Gregory Helms defended the Cruiserweight Title successfully against former Hooligan, Brian Kendrick after hitting his patented finisher the Shining Wizard, followed by putting his legs on the ropes for leverage for the 1-2-3. Kendrick knew he had a chance for gold again, but he failed.

Ken Kennedy was backstage ahead of his US Championship opportunity later tonight. He made it sound easy, and he put himself over throughout the interview, and said he will walk out later tonight, the new United States Champion! Mrrrr Kennedyyyyy! Kennedyyyyyyyy!

A video played, hyping the upcoming debut of Samoa Joe! The video announced that Joe will debut next week!

In this match, a US Champion was crowned when Mr Kennedy outlasted all 9 men to win his first championship in the WWE. The last to remain were Kennedy and the debutant, AJ Styles. Kennedy survived and won. He threw Styles over the top rope after a chair shot to the head of Styles. He cheated to win his first gold!

Now, it was time for the main-event of the evening, Rey Mysterio and Batista versus Mark Henry and The Great Khali! Rey and Batista eventually got the win when Rey 'Dropped The Dime' on Mark Henry after a spinebuster from Batista. Batista left Rey celebrating in the ring while he walked to the back. As soon as Batista walked to the back, Henry and Khali started an assault on Mysterio! Batista ran back to the ring instantly, went to save Rey, and suddenly smacked Rey with a chair! Batista has turned on his former friend, Rey Mysterio!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Quick Results;-

Joey Mercury def. Vito

The Highlanders def. Mike Knox and Hardcore Holly

Gregory Helms def. Brian Kendrick to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Ken Kennedy won the US Championship in a 10-man battle royal

Rey Mysterio and Batista def. Mark Henry and The Great Khali

Guest smarmy eroticism

I'm not a huge fan of raiding indies for the sake of having more talented workers on the roster, since it's not very realistic (though with the way you phased out DX and ECW...)

Also, a WWEism that bothers me: heels always cheating to win. Is it necessary? For example: Helms hits a shining wizard. Wouldn't that be enough? The ropes for leverage is a tad superfluous. And who needs to use a chair in a battle royal? Then again, it's what Raw and Smackdown have been force-feeding for years, so I guess you're spot-on with that.

NOTE - Teddy Long and Randy Orton have been having on-screen arguments, and that's why Teddy Long has said, well, if you look in the Raw preview below, it'll explain, but this is the reason for it just incase you're wondering.

The main-event hasn't been decided yet. Has Vince got a big surprise for us this Monday for the main-event?

...AJ Styles signed with no explanation. CM Punk promoted from ECW, again, with no explanation. Samoa Joe signed with, yes, no explanation. Seemingly everyone who was out injured healthy again with no explanation. If you're going to make such sweeping changes, you have to at least give some reasoning.

WWE Monday Night Raw!

As the show starts, we fade to Vince McMahon's desk backstage and he speaks into the camera about Raw's SummerSlam main-event. He eventually announced that it's going to be Edge vs John Cena in a No Holds Barred match.

The first match was simply a squash match. Umaga defeated Eugene easily. The end came when Umaga hit a Samoan Drop, quickly followed up by a Samoan Spike for the 1-2-3. Eugene looked devastated about this loss, and nearly started crying. He was also hurt.

Triple H was in his locker-room saying that he's going to make an open challenge later on, and no, not for tonight, for SummerSlam!

In the next match, Chris Masters defeated Matt Hardy when Hardy passed out to the Masterlock. This was a decent match, which saw Hardy go for the Twist of Fate, which was reversed into a blatant low blow which the ref didn't see, and quickly followed up by The Masterlock for the submission victory.

Next up, Mickie James was defending her title, against none other than former champion, Victoria! However, Victoria didn't get the victory this time. Mickie hit the Mick Kick for the 1-2-3. Victoria looked upset after the match, and Mickie just tormented her.

It was time for Triple H to come out. He came out to a large pop. He started talking about what he's done for this business, and that he is a legendary god! Eventually, the debutant JBL came out and interrupted Triple H. JBL said that he was the only wrestling god in this whole entire industry. Triple H told him he must be joking, but JBL started unleashing right hands on The Game. The Game came back, and eventually hit the Pedigree on the fallen JBL. Triple H said it was The Game vs The Loser at SummerSlam! Who was the real wrestling god?

With still no main-event set, Eric Bischoff came out. He announced that the main-event will be Edge vs Cena in a non-title match, just for a preview of SummerSlam!

Randy Orton made his way to the ring. He announced that he's issuing an open challenge for SummerSlam. He told everyone that someone should face him at SummerSlam, whether they're from SmackDown!, Raw!, or anywhere else. Appear at SummerSlam!

John Cena was backstage with Todd Grisham. He said that at SummerSlam, the gold will be back with the Chain Gang, and he verbally abused Edge.

It was time for Kane vs Chris Benoit for the Intercontinental Championship. Kane, as usual, dominated this match, but Benoit got some offense in near the end. Kane prevailed though, and won the Intercontinental Title by a Chokeslam.

The main-event was here. Edge vs Cena in a non-title match. Edge got the upper-hand going into SummerSlam, when Lita interfered and Edge hit the Spear on Cena for the 1-2-3. Who will get the upper-hand at SummerSlam

----------------------------------------------------------------

Quick Results;-

Umaga def. Eugene

Chris Masters def. Matt Hardy

Mickie James def. Victoria to retain the WWE Women's Championship

Kane def. Benoit to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Edge def. Cena in a non-title match

Why does he need an explanation for signing new talent?

Does WWE ever explain why they've signed someone? Not really, why should this guy have to.

What do you want him to say? "WWE HAVE SIGNED SAMOA JOE! WE LIKE HIM AND THINK HES GOOD! THUSLY, WE HAVE SIGNED HIM!" Theres never big announcements.

Or you could have not signed him, the only reason I can see for you signing AJ Styles is to have a good game, rather than a good diary. Now, perhaps this is just me, but I'd much rather see you get good ratings out of Funaki/Umaga than AJ/Joe, because that would take some work to achieve and would make a great piece of booking. However, simply grabbing hold of the best indy talent you can find and throwing them into a WWE ring is just insane and unrealistic.

And Styles turned the offer down, why would he go to WWE now that TNA is on the rise and he's getting TV exposure anyway? Samoa Joe is tied down to a long term deal and didn't want to go to WWE, so why or how would he come. Regardless of who they'd have good matches with, anyone can pull that off, why would any body care to see someone write about Indy Guy with good stats #7129479 taking on Indy Guy with good stats #8574502, when you could build up less known workers and make them into stars yourself.
