I don't want Panic At The Disco to win anything. I cannot stand there music for even a second, and there videos are fucking atrocious.

I want someone to do the right thing and hit there tour bus with a 18 wheeler going at 100 KPH.

30 Seconds To Mars nominated for an MTV VMA......wow.

Well, MTV2 has been pimping them a lot recently and "The Kill" was a pretty tight video.

EDIT: Oh and should Avenged even be near the new artist category? Though, I suppose there was a "new" change when they turned themsleves from a decent band to what is basically the 2006 goth Motley Crue.

I am going to fifth the excitement for 10 Years and 30 Seconds to Mars' video nominations. Although you know that 30 Seconds to Mars stands NO chance what-so-ever, since Red Hot Chili Peppers and Panic! are both up for video of the year.

I can see 10 Years winning one of the awards they are up for. Those awards seem to be the ones they just throw at someone so they can say that they gave that video a VMA. Anyone remember Johnny Cash's VMA?

Is it bad that I haven't heard the Christina Aguilera song that they have for VIDEO of theyear??

How the fuck is the video for "You're Beautiful" up there? It's a pile of cocks.

In fact, I don't see a single video up there that I've seen that stands out as something even vaguely interesting.

If "Bat Country" wins it, I would want to say that Hunter S. Thompson would turn his grave, but he's far too bad-ass to have a grave. I'd just weep into my collection of his books and articles, then write an angry blog about it.

Fuck Avenged Sevenfold, and fuck Bat Country most of all.

It must be a slow year if "Dani California" is up there for many nominations. That video is shit. Not to mention Bowling For Soup were doing the same thing (also shit) piss-take music videos back in 2002! In fact, you want to talk about the tune of Dani California ripping off Tom Petty - the video rips off Bowling for Soup's promo for 1985! How lame!

It's sad that today is the 25th Anniversary of the launch of MTV and then you look and see how big of a shitstorm the network has become.

You know, it is an interesting note that MTV is not observing this anniversary. Some bloggers and the like joked that it would be because MTV's average viewer wasn't even born when MTV started and wouldn't know or care about the network's past...though, sadly, they're exactly right.

MTV's average viewer wasn't even born for MTV's tenth anniversary, let alone twenty-fifth. MTV wouldn't dare risk showing music from the era, even though it's the reason they're even around today. MTV defines what teenagers are supposed to dress like, act like, and listen to. There's no way they can keep that image while showing old Police and Depeche Mode videos.

Is it bad that I haven't heard the Christina Aguilera song that they have for VIDEO of theyear??

I haven't heard half of this shit and I work in the music industry. Music in general these days is just plain bad and videos are even worse. Got a pop video? Have a close-up of the singer in the rain if it's kinda sad, but if it's got a beat, have a lot of people smiling and dancing. Got a rap video? Bitches and cars! Got a rock video? Put the band in an abandoned warehouse! Fall Out Boy-type rock video? We need lots of over-production, quirky outfits, and overall sillyness! It's all by the books now.

And Avenged Sevenfold are nominated in the best new artist category because City of Evil was their major-label debut, and that's what counts in the music industry. Plus, it's Best New Artist In A Video. They certainly never had any major videos before Bat Country.

MTV UK played the first hour of MTV earlier tonight, I don't really follow what's on MTV though, so I can't say whether or not it's acknowledged it any further than that, really.

I wasn't really complaining about whether or not they're a "new" artist, but rather the fact that such an abysmal, and borderline offensive, song and video could get any recognition whatsoever.
