Part of the reason the broadway musical is closing is because of the movie going in to production soon. They're hoping that if they close it, and bring it back once the movie has come out, that more interest will be in the show. Right now, ticket sales are less than admirable.

Depp talked about it in an interview he did for Pirates 2. When asked if he could sing, he said "Not yet.", which clearly shows how that's probably going to turn out.

Maybe I shouldn't have bumped this, yet here we are. Of course it certainly doesn't deserve a new topic. I'd just like to point out that two months to the date after I said this:

As long as Burton doesn't get his fiance Helena Bonham Carter for Mrs. Lovett. Which I'm sure he probably will. >_>
