Not rock n roll anthems, more indie rock anthem but should still make it onto your playlist:

Common People by Pulp

Don't look back in anger by Oasis

Bittersweet Symphony by Verve

Fools Gold by Stone Roses

Anthems for me personally:

Self Esteem by Offspring

True Believers by Bouncing Souls (absolute stonker, the lyrics should appeal to everyone, except people without friends)

Auld Lang Syne by Die Roten Rosen

Guest Mr. Potato Head

Without paying ANY attention to what's already on the list...these are just songs that I feel have that 'anthemic feel' to them, regardless of notability (although I'm generally only into mainstream stuff to begin with)...also limiting myself to one song per artist/group, for no particular reason.

The Doors - Touch Me

AC/DC - Back in Black

Alice Cooper - No More Mr. Nice Guy

Bon Jovi - It's My Life

Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA

BTO - Takin' Care of Business

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - Ohio

Grand Funk Railroad - We're An American Band

Guns 'n Roses - Paradise City

Jefferson Starship - We Built This City

The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide

KISS - Rock And Roll All Nite

Loverboy - Working For The Weekend

Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World

Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train

TPOH - I'm An Adult Now

Queen - We Will Rock You

R.E.M. - Drive

Rolling Stones - Start Me Up

Rush - Freewill

Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild

Styx - Blue Collar Man

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

T-Rex - Children of the Revolution

Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town

Tom Cochrane - Life is a Highway

Tom Petty - Refugee

The Tragically Hip - My Music At Work

Triumph - Fight the Good Fight

Trooper - Raise a Little Hell

U2 - New Year's Day

The Who - My Generation

EDIT: I have to say, I wasn't expecting anyone else to bring up Triumph. Nice job, Rashid!

To me, an anthem is a song you can sing along to as you drive along with the top down (or at least the driver-side window down ¬_¬), drumming on your car door with your free hand (because driving legally with two hands on the wheel is so not rock 'n' roll!). So with that in mind, my list would be something like this:

AC/DC - Back in Black

Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell

Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills

Bruce Dickinson - Sacred Cowboys

Judas Priest - Grinder

Judas Priest - Painkiller

Black Sabbath - Iron Man

Black Sabbath - Heaven 'n' Hell

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water

Dire Straits - Money For Nothing

Blondie - Maria

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Edguy - King of Fools

Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

Helloween - In The Middle Of A Hearbeat (fuck you, I love it to death)

Lordi - Blood Red Sandman

Madness - Driving In My Car ¬_¬

Manowar - Metal Warriors

Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde

Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls

Motorhead - Ace of Spades

Ozzy Ozbourne - Bark At The Moon

Queen - We Will Rock You

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In The Jar

Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town

Van Halen - Jump

Whitesnake - Young Blood

And of course... *slips on asbestos suit*... The Committments - Mustang Sally (although I like the ZZ Top version).

Everybody's going 'round talkin' 'bout the new sound.

It's still rock 'n' roll to me.
