Justin Timberlake--Sexy Back

This song jarred the shit out of me the first time I heard it, but it grew on me over time. The follow-up song, though, totally cemented that JT is trying his damndest to be Prince. Oh, speaking of...

Prince--Black Sweat

Prince showed Justin what kind of electro-sex funk he was shooting for here.

Nelly Furtado--Promiscuous

Nelly's not a great rapper, and neither is Timbaland, but damn, that beat kills me. Nelly's lack of flow is still mucho sexy, and I think "Is your game MVP like Steve Nash?" is one of the best lines I've ever heard in a hip-hop jam.

Carrie Underwood--Before He Cheats

It'll make you think twice about stepping out on your woman, ferdamnsure.

KT Tunstall--Black Horse and the Cherry Tree

Can't help but think the whole thing is about a woman losing her virginity to a well-hung black man, but it's still killer white-girl soul.

Christina Aguilera--Ain't No Other Man

Love Christina doing the '40s glam look, and love her updating a hip-hop beat with some big-band brass. Dangerous song, though, as it makes me wanna dance while driving.

Evanescence--Call Me When You're Sober

Jesus, Amy Lee can sing down a mountain. I don't think there's a voice like hers out right now.

Like last year, I know some of these songs may have been released last year, but they didn't really get popular until this year. Anyway, here's my top 15 :)

15: 3 Days Grace "Animal I Have Become"

14: Weezer "Perfect Situation"

13: Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion"

12: The Strokes "Juicebox"

11: Hurt "Falls Apart"

10: Trapt "Waiting"

09: Thrice "Image of the Invisible"

08: HIM "Wings of a Butterfly"

07: Muse "Knights of Cydonia"

06: Stone Sour "Through Glass"

05: The Prom Kings "Bleeding"

04: Panic! at the Disco "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies"

03: 30 Seconds to Mars "The Kill"

02: Vaux "Are You With Me?"

01: Mest "Kiss Me, Kill Me"

Yeah, thar it be. Like I said, I am pretty sure Weezer, Thrice, The Strokes, and HIM's songs were released late last year, but I didn't really start hearing a lot about them until early this year (as shown by the date I legally acquired the songs).

6) Johnny Cash - 'God's Gonna Cut Down'

5) Lupe Fiasco - 'Kick Push'

4) Lil Wayne - 'Hustlers Muzik'

3) 30 Seconds To Mars - 'The KILL'

2) Skillz - '2006 Wrap Up'

1) Lupe Fiasco - 'Day Dream'

While Skillz "2006 Wrap Up" isn't officially a single, it's one of the best songs on 06

There's probably HUNDREDS of singles I've really liked this year (Most of which i probably wouldn't relise were actually singles)

"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley...getting sick of it, but that's to be expected as it was hands down THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR (IMO), and thus gets played everywhere. The following singles have been solid as well. Needs more "Go Go Gadget Gospel" though.

"Starlight" by Muse is right up there, in fact all of the Muse singles ("Supermassive Black Hole", "Knights Of Cydonia") have been great.

Death Cab For Cutie released "Crooked Teeth" and "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" this year, and charted in the 60's in the UK. They got pretty much no video time in the UK at all, as far as I know. In fact the only time I've heard them was with "A Movie Script Ending" at like 3am in the morning during the summer on MTV2.

"Creepin' Up The Backstairs" and "Henrietta" were both real sound released from The Fratelli's. The album itself was a letdown though.

Keane - Is It Any Wonder? (though I've only really liked it over the past month or so)

The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger

The Fratellis - Henrietta

The Fratellis - Whistle For The Choir

Razorlight - America

Razorlight - Before I Fall To Pieces

Justin Timberlake - SexyBack

The Killers - When You Were Young

The Killers - Bones

So basically, I thought the second half of the year was much better for music.
