What's everyone's opinion on Billy Preston being the 5th Beatle and Lennon and McCartney arguing over getting him to join? I think if he'd become the fifth beatle they would have gone on a lot longer and also would have been better with Preston.

In bootlegged "Let It Be" session tapes, one can hear several heated arguments between John Lennon and Paul McCartney about making Preston a group member (Lennon was all for it) McCartney said there is no point since the group was near its end anyway

Preston was never really much as anything but a session musician, I doubt the rest of the band would have given him any real creative input, so it wouldn't have changed anything, in my opinion.

I am VERY aware there's about 15 disputed "fifth Beatles" but Epstein is the only one that I think really deserved it, and had a member come out and state "If there was anyone who was ever the Fifth Beatle, it was Brian Epstein."
