Trance/Dance Music Thread

Just curious if anyone here listens to trance at all. I do a little bit.

Today in the US the new compilations by Above and Beyond (Anjunabeats 5) and Armin van Buuren (State of Trance 2007) just came out. Anyone over in Europe already got these, and got any opinions?

Also, curious if anyone got anything good that's new. I have Tiesto's Elements of Life, but that's about it for 2007. That was mostly good, except for some blah tracks in the middle there.

I listen to some Trance, none of the dance-floor anthem stuff though. I used to, but I got tired of it essentially. I still listen to a bunch of Psychedelic Trance and the like though. My favorite type of electronic music is Drum and Bass though without a doubt. Listen to it all the time and always go to shows since Baltimore fortunately has a good amount of them.

I listened to trance a lot in '99-'00 in my first uni at uni. My second year was devoted to hard house and my third year went into full blown techno before I went into low-fi, electronica, breakbeat and avant garde.

Happy days.

Hence, while I enjoy trance from a "retro/kitsch" kind of standpoint I find modern trance uninspiring.

What I DO still love as songs are "Saltwater" by Chicane and "Seven Days And One Week" by BBE.
