Nope, you defeat it, battle ends and everything, get all the AP and a fifty (or a hundred, I forget) point bonus on your SEED entry exam.

I'm on my way to Timber, having the first dream and I'm just getting to grips with drawing an obscene amount of magic all the time so I can have boost my stats up high.

I finally saw FF8 in the shop today.

FF8 had the best Mini-game, I loved the Card Game. Second place goes to Blitzball in X.

But yeah, I played the cardgame a lot in the beginning to help. And before I even go after Ifrit I get 100 Water and junction it to Strength, does a lot of boostage!

Has anyone ever "killed" the giant mech spider? I remember getting close a few times, but never quite made it.

Just bought this game on Saturday because I'd never played it before. We've just graduated as SeeD, and I'm finding Squall surprisingly hilarious.

Still having trouble getting my mind round all the junctioning stuff though. What's the 'boosting' stuff that people keep mentioning?

I believe Boost is an ability every GF gets. From what I remember, you could hold down a button during the GF animations, and if it had boost activated, you could hammer away at X or whichever button it was to increase the damage. I also wish they did this on an emulation because now I want to play it just to ruin ass at Triple Triad.

Boost, hold Select, then press Square whenever the button doesn't have a red X across it.
