Well it's that time of year again, where studios whore their prestige pieces in an attempt to make up for inundating us with pirates, ogres, spiders and transforming cars all summer. Some do it for the glory, while others do it for the lulz, but what can I say, I'm happy to be in the season where Joe Wright gets more attention than Michael Bay.

The fact that Josh Brolin doesn't have any nomination in either Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor (for No Country and American Gangster respectively) is a fucking crime.

They are fishing for "Walk Hard" to win easily on best song. And yeah, there's no love for Apatow-mania bar Reilly (who was probably in for being awesome the last 10 years), but hell, I'd love to see Reilly win it. Having listened to the soundtrack and knowing that Reilly is amazing at adapting his singing style as well as being funny while being able to stay straight-faced about it, there's something that I'm willing to bet Tom Hanks isn't as effective at that. (Funny? Yes. Great singer? Not so much.)

It's already out stateside, albeit in only a few locations (40 screens this week, 200 next). It'll hit the UK February 1st, according to IMDB.
