1995: HEAT (Very tough year with Se7en in consideration as well but ultimately HEAT is just one of the best action movies ever to begin with.)

1996: Happy Gilmore

1997: LA Confidential (Though As Good As It Gets is a close second)

1998: American History X

1999: The Matrix (American Beauty and The Insider are damn close though. As is Office Space)

2000: Memento

2001: Black Hawk Down (Blow is close though)

2002: Gangs of New York (Catch Me If You Can is also very close. So are Insomina and Narc)

2003: Mystic River

2004: Man on Fire

2005: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Close between it and 40 Year Old Virgin though)

2006: The Departed

2007: Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (If you're reading this and haven't seen it; go get it and do so.)

2008: The Dark Knight
