Carling Cup Semi Finals et al

I couldn't understand that either. Surely you'd rather go for 2-0 and risk United equalising? Seems weird to me.

I'm taking it you're being sarcastic. I wasn't suggesting they go gung-ho, but when they had the corner, why not try and score, I'm not saying stick everyone in the box but y'know they could've tried to give themselves a better chance to win the tie overall rather than try and defend the lead from a single tie.

I'm actually not. I really couldn't understand it. We're obviously going to score at Old Trafford so they'd have been better attempting to get a two goal lead.

I don't believe so, it's the same principal as the play-offs.

EDIT: And for once I hope Man Utd win a tournament, since Burnley have no chance now. A win for Man U will be good for the likes of Everton, Hull, Fulham, Bolton & Wigan as they aim to try and secure a Europa League place for next season.

13.5 In the Semi-Final ties, if the aggregate score is level at the end of the second game an extra half-hour shall be played. If the aggregate scores are still level at the end of extra time the tie shall be decided by goals scored away from home counting twice. If the teams remain equal after this procedure the tie shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the Laws of Association Football.

This is brilliant for the neutrals, I can have the choice of watching a potential classic (Man Utd Vs Spurs), an underdog battle (Spurs Vs Derby/ Man Utd Vs Barnsley) or an all Championship final and be happy with any match.

Would be hilarious to see Derby win the whole thing though.
