Carling Cup Semi Finals et al

Recommended Posts

Wonder if we're going to convert our dominance into goals or we're just going to end up drawing and probably losing to one goal. Good to see Kenwyne Jones is back and playing well though, when fit he'll add another dimension to our attack.

...Yes, it would appear we are.

Well today pretty much sums up our performances. It's nice to know we can play well against more established teams but when we just come away with losses it seems all pointless.

Think I'll take a shit performance and a win next match.

Not bothered really by the defeat. Although Alonso coming on did make the team play better it was a bunch of second string kids and an aging Sami Hyppia along with a Torres (who played simply just to get match practice), Babel and Agger as the only regular starters. Whilst Spurs were pretty strong. Rafa had both eyes on Bolton at the weekend. Spurs deserved the win, they need the Carling Cup run more than we do.

If you're on about performance, fair enough. If you're on about team selection I'd like to point out the absences of Woodgate, King, Bentley, Bent, Jenas and Modric.

Great result, although it's clear something needs to be done about Gomes. We can't rely on scoring four goals every game to get a win.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE, hate, hate, hate, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE penalty shoot-outs.

I swear every penalty shoot-out I watch live shortens my lifespan by at least a month. And being both an England and a Chelsea supporter, that only doubles the pain.

How is that Chelsea can fail to beat a Championship team, fail to beat Spurs pre-Redknapp, and still be top?

How can Spurs beat Liverpool...twice...and still be 15 places below them in the league?

Answer: it's called football.
