Don't know if it would quite fit your need for "dramatic" classical, but Elgar's always been a personal favorite. Also, strange as though it may be, John Williams' work would fit right in to what you're asking for.

Steve Reich

John Cage

William Balanski

Igor Wakhevitch

(The last two implement modern instruments into a string quartet, and Igor is especially good since one of his records features Salavador Dali babbling shit in French over it.)

And uhh...Some others from my playlist....

Terry Riley

Kronos Quartet

Phillip Glass

Bartok Bela

John Adams

Thanks everyone. :)

Elgar, Handel, Williams and Cage all rock. And I can't believe I've never listened to Beethoven before. Rather good :P

You've probably got it, but 'Night on Bald Mountain' by Moussorgsky is the most dramatic piece I've heard by far.

Fantasia was great, that's where I learnt most of my classical music from.
