What about Lawrence Frank? He has some experience in dealing with a big three in Kidd/Carter/Jefferson and while he doesn't have any rings he has at least had some success before in the pros.

I'm not really bothered by the 12 games since the Knicks made the trade. It's the 657 other ones that 'Antoni has coached where the same flaws in his system keep cropping up. You cannot win in the NBA without playing defense, especially with a bench that only goes three deep. He routinely buries guys in his doghouse for no reason. He doesn't adapt to the game in progress. Like I said in an earlier post in the 1st Cavs game post trade they got murdered 62-42 on the boards and he continued to play a small lineup. Then, when a speedy guard is cutting up the defense with dribble penetration he stays with a big lineup. His offensive scheme is basically either (A) pick and pop which results in the guard shooting a 3 or an Amar'e elbow jumper or (B) swing the ball around the perimeter for a wing or corner 3. When Carmelo gets the ball he basically goes 1 on 1/2/3 to get up shots because they don't run anything for him otherwise.

This guy doesn't coach the team, and they already have the 2 superstars. Now it's time to send this buffoon packing and bring in a coach who preaches defense and actually tries to develop role players without falling in or out of love with them and chaining them to the end of the bench.

D'Antoni did coach the Suns to deep playoff runs, though (and beat the Lakers :shifty:). A Joe Johnson injury and a Robert Horry hipcheck in different seasons probably kept Phoenix from getting to the finals.

Those teams also had in their primes Nash and Marion along with Stoudemire and Johnson. Find me another team with four all star level players in their 20's/early 30's that never made the Finals in the post Jordan era. Aside from coaching the current Heat or any of the last few Lakers teams, there's no team that had more individual talent at or near their prime than the Suns did during 'Antoni's time there and he still didn't get it done. If he'd made the Finals and been swept I'd have much more respect for him as a coach, but to have never made it with that much talent is pretty much inexcusable.

Chris Webber's Sacramento Kings, maybe?

I agree changes need to be made for the Knicks. But I'm skeptical if replacing D'Antoni now is going to do much for them this season. They seem to be taking about as much time as the Heat to get their act together, and this is without the benefit of training camp.

The Knicks have now lost FIVE games to sub .500 teams (2x Cleveland, 2x Indiana and now Detroit) since the trade after blowing an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter. The only sub .500 team they've beaten is Milwaukee and that was the first team they played. Fuck this team.

They've also lost to Dallas and Orlando, but that should be expected. The flip side is they have wins over Miami, New Orleans, Atlanta, Utah and Memphis x2. I repeat, fuck this team.

How do you go 1-5 against shit and 6-2 against the playoff caliber teams? Flip that around and no one would care. But if you're going to beat the best teams and then throw away those quality wins losing to teams that have absolutely nothing to play for, what's the point. I'm done with them for this year since I'm tired of seeing mediocre players on horrible teams lighting them up on a regular basis. FUCK. THIS. TEAM.

So, let's talk some awards. Who do you got?

MVP : Rose

ROY: Griffin

DPOY: Howard

6th Man: Terry

MIP: Love

COY: Thibs

This year's awards are simple really. Rose has been the MVP, take him from the team and we are an average team. All the other awards, except maybe Thibs, are a given...

I watched that game and I noticed that Carmelo was hardly getting the ball all that much in the fourth... I'd be going to him alot of the time, as when they did, they got easy baskets on inside passes from him to Amare... Watching Chauncey Billups throw up some of the dumbest and worst possible shots ever, was quite frustrating as well...

But any game where Amare shoots as badly as he did, then I wouldn't think the Knicks will win...

I'm not a massive Knicks fan like some here, they are probably my favourite team in the East though, but it was quite frustrating watching them play today and I'd be hating been a full-passioned Knicks fan at the moment...

I'd have to agree on Thibodeau as Coach of the Year, and Griffin for Rookie of the Year.
