So, one of football's greats, George Blanda, passed away.

Blanda had played for around 26 years, for the Bears, Oilers and Raiders, and is best known for setting the NFL record for career points until it was broken by Gary Anderson.

RIP.

If you ever get the chance, check out Ken Stabler's autobiography, I believe it's called 'Snake'. Some great stories about George Blanda, who was a true throwback in professional football. Originally a two-way player, he was a back-up quarterback and kicker on the early great Raiders teams. I forget which season it was, but in the early 70s, he won something like 6 or 7 games by either kicking a winning field goal or throwing a touchdown.

Just an amazing story, and a true Raider.

R.I.P.

They mentioned it on ESPN. "But it was a five-game stretch for Oakland in 1970 that is the lasting imprint from his career. As a 43-year-old, Blanda led the Raiders to four wins and one tie with late touchdown passes or field goals."

He's definitely an all-time great, he held so many records upon retiring in 1976.

RIP
