I think part of the problem is that a lot of these relationships (especially the friendships) are just outdated and irrelevant. Look at Justin Credible. He is friends with all the other members of The Clique. In 2013, one of his friends is in charge of firing and hiring of the largest wrestling company in the world, yet hasn't hired him for a postion (unlike those like Billy Gunn and Road Dogg). Sure they may still hang out and talk occasionally, but in the wresting world, friend is tossed around too much. You are friends with most people you work with, then once you no longer work there, you don't talk to them as much. It's not that you hate them, you just lose touch with them. It's nice to catch up with friends from 15-20 years ago and you may still call them friends, but you won't lose sleep or morale if they are not working with you everyday.

Going through the June data (I never downloaded the July stats), Shawn Stasiak is friends with all of the other Power Plant/Natural Born Thrillers. 13 years ago, yes, that makes sense. 2013 it really doesn't. I'm not sure how often he wrestles these days (last I heard he enjoyed being a chiropracter and no real interest in wrestling full time), but I'm not sure he's booking or cancelling gigs because Mike Sanders is/isn't on the card. Again, they may talk and hang out, but neither would be too upset if the other isn't in the same company as them.

I know in the past I have complained about too many relationships, and I still think there are, but I think before we decide to overhaul it (which I think might need to be in order), I think we should have definite guidelines about how deep friendships should start, loyalty, hatred, and such. Also some guidelines for how much time should pass before we evaluate these friendships. Are friendships in 1996 relevant in 2013? What about dislikes? The guide is too vague in definitions for these and should be addressed.

Agree with pretty much all of this...

Cesaro had a hand in training all the guys listed for him, too, as he was co-head trainer at the Wrestle Factory when they were trained. Cesaro's trainees could probably do with a friendship relationship to him rather than loyalty, though - enough to make him happy if they're signed, but not so much that he'd threaten to quit if you released them. Most of the Bret and Booker ones probably less than that, as I doubt it would bother them either way - being trained by someone isn't automatically a sign of loyalty. One of the guys at CIW was trained by Billy Gunn and D'Lo Brown, and I doubt they'd care either way if WWE hired him.

I think the bolded is a big part of the issue with a lot of in-game loyalty relationships that probably shouldn't be in the game.

IIRC, the guide says something to the effect of "A trainer/student is an example of a loyalty relationship." Using that, I think a lot of times, people see that two people are student/trainer, that automatically means loyalty. Just to use some "real world" logic here: If I pay a wrestler $500 to train me, that doesn't mean that he's gonna be happy or upset if I get hired or fired somewhere. In some cases, that relationship might be formed in that context, but certainly not all the time.

Here's a post recently that, IMO, highlights some of the "overkill" regarding relationships in the game. whoever posted this, I'm not picking on you, it's just one that I noticed recently to use as an example:

Mark Henry credits Cornette with teaching him about the history of wrestling and helping him improve a lot in the ring when he was sent down to OVW around 2000/2002.

Now, this was used as a reason to give Mark Henry and Jim Cornette a friendship. But, I just don't see Jim Cornette getting upset if WWE were to fire Mark Henry tomorrow, or vice versa, if Cornette were employed by WWE (or any promotion that they might be together in). I see that as Cornette really just doing his job while at OVW.

Another thing to keep in mind: Some relationships don't necessarily go both ways. For example, a wrestler that was trained by Bret Hart might think the world of him and be very upset if Bret were released from a promotion, whereas Hart might just be a little upset, or not upset at all if one of his many students over the years gets released. Relationships in EWR can be tough to determine what fits and what doesn't between two workers, because IRL, not every relationship is a two way street. Dislike and hate could work the same way... One guy hates the other, while the other guy really has no beef with the first person. One ingame relationship is a hate between Kenn Doane and John Cena, but from what I've read, 99.9% of that is Doane hating Cena, as I don't recall Cena saying anything regarding Doane one way or another.

Just some other stuff to think about while going through relationships.

Regarding relationships, friendships shouldn't be added just because in a shoot interview Wrestler A said that he/she likes Wrestler B or they tweet back and forth or post photos. I agree with juipterhill that there are too many relationships in this game and that slows down game loading time when starting a new one.
