Why I deleted your promo email

Having to sift through hundreds of promo emails urging you to listen to such and such is one of the downsides of being a music journalist*. Even when I was a no-hoper in first year at university writing my meaningless reviews for meaningless university magazine I used to be bombarded by the things. So I mostly just ignored them.

The writer of this blog does, at the very least, seem to take the time to read them. But is then immediately warned off by various uh-oh lines in the emails.

Such as:

“He’s a white boy in a backwards snapback with fake Emoji neck tattoos.”

“His dedication and hard work are evident as he keeps his fingers on the pulse of what his fans want and need via Social Media – trending and exemplifying the Millennial in him.”

"Recorded in Self-Made Hand-Hewn Cabin in the Woods"

"Blink-182's Travis Barker"

and so on...
