Superfast Jellyfish is my favourite from the album, followed by Melancholy Hill. Like I say I enjoy most of it, but from a full album perspective it doesn't work at all.

Okay, wow, I think I really like that album, because as soon as I read your post I can remember how both these songs go, and I really love both of 'em. I'm really a sucker for bad music, though.

  1. Inside Llewyn Davis OST
  2. The Killers - Direct Hits
  3. Green Day - Bullet in a Bible
  4. Pet Shop Boys - Yes
  5. Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company
  6. Taylor Swift - Speak Now
  7. Foster the People - Supermodel

Don't think there'd be many FtP fans here, but if you do, Supermodel is so good you guys. Coming of Age and Tabloid Super Junkie is so much fun, love 'em both. After I finished listening to it, I played Tabloid Super Junkie like 4 times in a row.

Syro is absolutely great. Obviously not quite as ahead of its time as his early stuff was but it's still exemplary dance music from a master.

24. Gary Clark Jr - Gary Clark Jr
The self-titled album is probably just better than "The Fool", there's some great tracks on this album and it really picks up after the third track. I cannot wait to see Warpaint improve in the future. Plastic Beach is a weak album, I remember being so hyped for it and then it was a disappointment. Cloud of Unknowing is an underrated tune, probably my favourite outside of the singles. Balcony is a decent debut, I don't feel the songs are all that different but it's a solid album. Gary Clark Jr was decent too, I like my blues rock.

29. 'Songs of Innocence' by U2 - Apple's contribution to the list, the bastards. Figured I'd give it a go. Wish I hadn't. Fuck Bono.

30. 'For Lack of a Better Word' by Munkinpure - I bought this album after seeing them do a local gig my mate was playing. They aren't bad, but they were better live in my opinion.

17. 'Save Rock & Roll' by Fall Out Boy (12th October 2014)

18. 'Lars Attacks!' by MC Lars (12th October 2014)

I'll be honest, I expected nothing from 'Neon Icon'. I remembered seeing this weird looking dude going to an awards ceremony with Katy Perry and some people defending him saying he's a nice guy, so I decided to check him out. It is bad... but in an intentional way. RiFF RAFF is so fucking weird, there's stuff on here I didn't expect mixed in with his rap, there's a freaking country song mixed right into the middle of the entire thing. It's an album that doesn't take itself seriously at any point, and whilst it's not anything I'd suggest to a friend, it's not actually downright bad, even having a few moments of weird genius.

'Save Rock & Roll' was good - starts off strong, drops off quite steeply, but recovers by the end. Standard FOB fare, but the final titular track is by far the best the album has.

'Lars Attacks' is probably Lars' worst album overall, but it ends incredibly strongly, I think the last four or so tracks were tremendous, with 'The Giving Tree' being particularly enjoyable.

16. Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz
The Owen Pallett album is decent chamber pop, with some nice electronic touches but not much in the way of solid hooks. At least not on first listen. He reminds me of someone vocally but there's no chance that I can recall who it is now. Irma Thomas is soul from 1964 and it's amazing; perfect soul songwriting and her voice is immaculate on each track and can bounce from ballads to blues to energetic numbers with no problem at all. After all of the Owen Pallet, i had a hankering for Sufjan Stevens and Age of Adz is still as ridiculous a listen as it was 4 years ago. I saw him play the songs from it live and it was one of the biggest assault on my senses I'd ever experienced but good fun all the same. Part of me hopes it's his last album.

31. 'King of the Corner/Warriors' by Coco & The Butterfields - Listed two here as its a pair of short EPs rather than an album. I love it. It's folky, country pop and it's delightful. Scarecrow, Five Bells and Warriors are the tracks I'd recommend, and they did an entertaining mash-up cover of Flo Rida's Low and Jay-Z's Encore. They're also awesome because they use a beat boxer rather than a drummer, which is cool.

Decided to squeeze a couple more in as I was writing and doing some housework. House of Balloons is one of my favourite releases from this current decade and its filthy atmosphere still holds up really strong. I think his most immediate moments of brilliance are on this; the harsh transition in "House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls" and the Beach House sample in "Loft Music" Sebadoh are awesome and you should hear them if you like guitar music at all. Listen with headphones to hear the bass playing because it really keeps everything moving at a break-neck pace.

15. The Heist by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis- So I became a fan of Macklemore after he was real good at Reading so figured I'd listen to his whole album. It's quite a long album and I found myself getting a bit bored by the end. The best songs are the obvious ones like "Can't hold us," but "White Walls" and "Welcome to the Heist" are also good shouts. Not a bad album, but I think Macklemore are better suited to live performances.

As an aside, I really dig Never Been In Love by Cobra Starship ft. Icona Pop. Hopefully it means a new Cobra Starship album is on the way.

19. 'Relapse' by Eminem (13th October 2014)

20. 'Recovery' by Eminem (13th October 2014)

Catching up on more albums, Relapse was a massive let down. Honestly I think I found about three tracks on the album I liked, and only one I actually loved, and considering I tend to like about 80% of songs on Eminem's albums that's an impressive fail rate. Conceptually it makes sense that the album feels like your senses are being dulled, I'm just not sure that was the intention. 'Underground' was the great track, whilst 'Crack The Bottle' and I believe it was 'Same Old Song and Dance' was the other one.

Recovery on the other hand was a corker, and right back to form. Felt bizarre having no skits on the album, but it's not really a big loss. 'Not Afraid', 'Going Through Changes', 'Love The Way You Lie' and 'So Bad' are the highlight tracks, but it's overall more than on target for that 80% success rate mentioned before.

I fully expect I'll have this finished by, like, February :shifty:

Not that anyone else will care, but I've done some maths and at my current pace of doing this, I should be finished on the 5th or 6th of February, so I totally called it :shifty:

Australian 80s pop today and basically everything you'd expect from that sentence. "Gimme Some Lovin" is a great single.
