  1. I've always liked him but a lot of people have been against him because of his goal return. If he keeps this up then he'll become one of the most dangerous players in the league.

I've always been a big Welbeck fan too. He's benefited massively from Van Persie being injured. Last year he was mostly shunted to the left wing where he struggled to get involved in the box as much. Now he's up top, he's getting to use his main qualities in the areas of the pitch you want him to be in.

Kagawa has looked a bit too timid for me. Nice touch and good movement, but doesn't have the strength to cope when a challenge comes in (any time Leroy Fer barged through him, for example).

  2. Man City (Silva & Toure)

    Chelsea (Hazard & Oscar)

    Spurs (Eriksen & Lamela)

    Liverpool (Coutinho & Gerrard)

    Arsenal (Carzola & Ozil)

    Man Utd (Cleverley & Carrick)

How are Cleverley and Carrick comparable to the other "partnerships" you've put up? The majority are attacking midfielders, not centre mids. We've still got the exact same squad that walked to the title last season. Stop over-reacting.

  3. Really hope Moyes signs a player tomorrow. I expect it to be Fellaini, which would baffle me because we probably could have offered Everton the same amount of money two months ago and given him time to settle in rather than waiting for the last day of the window. Arsenal getting Ozil would be a great signing for them and the kind I wish we were in for. He'd really give us an extra bit of creativity in the attacking midfield position that was missing today and against Chelsea.

  4. I'd have probably taken a draw before the match but after that game, I think we could have won it. We lacked a playmaker to unlock the Chelsea defence (Kagawa would have been good in this game) or a winger who could have put some dangerous balls into the box (Young put in a couple decent ones late on). If we had Rafael at RB giving us a few more options down the wing instead of Jones and maybe Nani or Kagawa in the side, I think we could have created a few more clear cut chances. Still, we looked decent and not every side we play is going to be as well defensively organised as Chelsea. Decent point and definitely optimistic that we're only going to get better once we get a couple players back and a few games under our belts.

  5. BREAKING: Tottenham are considering offers for Gareth Bale from more than one club. (Source: Sky Sports)

So if Sky was to just make up a rumour of an English club joining the race for Bale even though they know he's 99% off to Madrid, loads of punters start assuming this mystery club is United/Chelsea/City and lump on a few quid on them at fairly decent odds (United to sign Bale has gone from 14/1 to 6/1 I read), Skybet would make back a fair bit of whatever they lose when Bale does go to Madrid? Or is that an over-simplification of the way the betting market works since I'd assume they'd have to change the odds of him going to Real too?

  6. I've seen loads of people on other forums say they bet on Celtic for this match and I just couldn't see why. Away to a side from Kazakhstan is always going to be difficult when you factor in the travelling, the different atmosphere and the fact Karagandy will be really up for it. I'd expect Celtic to win at home when all of those reasons are pretty much reversed.

  7. I picked Vorm. Always go for players in Europe if possible.

BBC always seem to pick the stupidest comments for Sportsday Live. "I wouldn't want Fellaini, he's not United material. We should sign Mata.". Might as well get Messi too.

Given our summer transfer policy so far, I wouldn't be shocked if the BBC Sport headline one of these days was "Barcelona reject Man Utd's £25mil bid for Messi".

  8. 5 pound acca on:

    Norwich

    West Ham

    Spurs

    Chelsea

    City

Returns £86.80 (Paddy Power will refund the fiver as a free bet next week if it loses).

I've also built up £7.20 off a quid free bet they gave me last week which I've put all on West Ham at evens.

And then a cheeky £10 on Stoke double chance against Liverpool today at 9/4. Hopefully betting against Liverpool this season will prove as profitable as it was last season.

Acca didn't win, West Ham at evens at home against a newly promoted side was free money, and Walters ruined that last one by missing his penalty.

Went for a last minute £10 double on Van Wolfswinkel to score and the Arsenal game to be over 2.5 goals. That came in so I lumped the winnings on Van Persie anytime at 11/10. Nice way to start the season off!
