  1. Wonder how long ago this was planned. Adkins has only lost twice in the last 12 games and is coming off a draw away at Chelsea. It sounds like similar circumstances to the Nottingham Forest situation a few weeks ago, I guess the chairman was waiting for an opportunity to get rid of him so he could bring in a new manager for the transfer window. The opportunity never really came but time was running out for him to do it. Hopefully Adkins can find a new job soon, two promotions in two years will make him a good choice for quite a few teams.

  2. Trying to hurt another player is always wrong. Just as it was when Suarez stamped on Distin and Mirallas in the Everton game. Or against David Jones in the Wigan game a few weeks later. There's a reason Suarez thinks he's vilified by the media and it's because he keeps providing them with stuff to write. Admitting to diving and then complaining about being picked on by the media in the same interview is just asking for trouble.

  3. Redknapp came across so bitter in his 'analysis'. Blaming de Gea for the goal and saying he's not a "great goalkeeper" because he pushed the ball away at full stretch was ridiculous. Then he said Vidic was offside for the second goal when he was clearly behind Evra. Souness and Neville are obviously trying to be impartial in their punditry, he doesn't seem to bother with this at all.

  4. I love It's Always Sunny. I thought Season 7 was the worst of the lot but this one that just aired was a return to form.

Big Bang Theory is shit. I'll sometimes watch if my housemate has it on but it's never made me laugh once.

I liked the first season of Homeland but always felt they should have had it be just a one season show. This one was a bit weird, started strong but I felt they rushed it a bit much to the point it got pretty bad through the middle and end episodes.

Haven't seen either of the other two.

  5. Fantastic performance by United, perfect preparation for the biggest game of our season so far.

    Absolute shite.

I wouldn't judge our chances on Sunday based on today's team. None of the back four today will play against City. Midfield will be completely different too (though I am pretty scared we'll go for that sprightly trio of Carrick/Fletcher/Scholes). Hell, even the strike force will be different with RVP coming in and possibly a winger. City haven't been amazing themselves and I have faith Fergie's been focusing hard on our defence and set pieces in training.

  6. One of Anderson and Cleverley should always be starting. Ando is by far our most positive midfielder and seeing him come on and actually run with the ball gave us so many more options today. Really, we should be putting out our most attacking front six against teams like Norwich and QPR. Giggs/Carrick and Scholes/Fletcher were too static when trying to break down the defence and offered too little in stopping the opposition midfield just walk past them. We have plenty of liveliness up front, on the wings and coming from the full back positions so it'd be nice if the midfield matched it!

  7. I thought they would have kept him in for the City game and fired him after that but it's no big shock he's been fired, which says a lot in itself. It was obvious in the summer that Abramovich was reluctant to hire Di Matteo from the amount of time he took over the decision. Fully expect Falcao to join Chelsea in January, the new manager oversees a sudden upturn in form to get Chelsea a third place finish and a good Europa Cup run, then a poor start to next season and they'll be back to square one.

  8. If Suarez was to leave, he'd be to foolish to go to another English team. It'd be much better for him to go abroad and remain a favourite in Liverpool, suggesting he was driven out rather than leaving because he wanted to. Only City or Chelsea would buy him in England and both would lead to him being viewed as turning his back on the club after all the support they gave him.

  9. And are League Cup games included in that delightful United policy of "we will automatically force all STH to buy a ticket for every home cup game regardless of circumstance"? I can but laugh.

Chelsea hiked their League Cup prices from £20 to £25 a year ago. Still, not too bad.

EDIT: Just looked up the United ticket prices for League Cup games and they do indeed sit in the region of £30 - £52 for adults, depending on the seat (with £44 being pretty common).

I do like how they list the League Cup prices on a different page to their Premier League and FA Cup prices, despite them being effectively identical.

You can opt out of League Cup games IIRC.
