  1. Chicago receives:

    • 2021 first-round pick (No. 11 overall)

    New York receives:

    • 2021 first-round pick (No. 20)
    • 2021 second-round pick (No. 52)
    • 2021 sixth-round pick (No. 204)

    Here is Frelund’s logic:

Why it works for the Bears:

As I said in the blurbage just above, according to my model, QB4 is most likely to be Mac Jones or Trey Lance. Sitting either one of them behind Andy Dalton obviously wouldn’t produce a big win-total uptick in 2021. Jones in particular seems like a first-round pick you’d want to test out sooner than later, based on his quick-passing résumé at Alabama. But getting ahead of Washington (picking at No. 19) and New England (No. 15) — not to mention, Vegas (No. 17) and Philly (No. 12) — creates future value for the reasonable cost of a second- and sixth-round pick.

Why it works for the Giants:

I may have pointed out before that the Giants paid their free agents well (maybe too well) this offseason. But now that’s a sunk cost, and the player-performance projections combine to give this roster some sneaky-good potential. The highest probability fit-based additions (edge, corner, O-line, wide receiver) don’t decrease much from 11 to 20, and adding No. 52 outweighs that by about 0.35 wins.

I wouldn't mind this at all, any further down I would be against it - but if we can gain a couple more picks this year I would think Getty would be up for rather than future picks.

Ya know, it's weird but this might be the first draft that I honestly don't think the Lions can make a pick that will drive me nuts. I mean...assuming they stick to the script. Sitting at 7 there's a chance that the draft could shake out to us taking any of Pitts, Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Smith, Waddle, Slater, Sewell...and like none of those picks bother me. Like, I think my choices would be Sewell, Chase, Parsons (no way Pitts is there at 7, otherwise I think I do just take him and call it a day) but I really do like Devonta Smiths skillset, I know the weight is a concern but he can bulk up. Yeah, it's strange but I think I'd only be bummed if we traded up for somebody or completely reached.

I feel the same way for the Giants. The draft was pretty much telegraphed the years we picked Jones and Saqoun, I have no idea what they're going to do... aside from not trade back.

I could see either top OL, WR or even Parsons at 11 depending how it all shakes out. As long as we don't draft a CB at 11 I'll be happy!

I'm hoping Sewell falls to Detroit and we can snap him up. That offensive line would suddenly be very very good, and what better way to help Goff? Or if next year you do draft a QB early you've already got a good foundation lined up for the youngster.

If not Sewell...then uh I don't know? Parsons I guess? Or Chase if he maybe slips due to Cinci taking Sewell.

I don't know why I still see mocks with Detroit taking a QB. I completely forgot about Goff, but still, you have to draft something useful and worry about a QB next year if Goff fails.

I'd like this move with only 6 total picks in the draft, but do I think this going to happen? No. Gettleman is stuck in his ways and he'll find someone that he "couldn't pass up on" at 11.

In a vacuum, I agree. I think Sewell is great but if you've already spent a 1st round pick and upwards of $7.5M the past two offseasons at OT that means you should focus on the rest of the OL or add a weapon. When you can basically do both, that's the direction you should go in, especially when the gap between Chase/Pitts/Sewell is kind of negligent.

In this day and age of the NFL, just give Chase three or four years and he'll work his way out of the team he's on now and will get a fat new contract and the team of his choice!

  5. Bengals finally getting into the 21st century with new uniforms and finally creating a Bengals ring of honor after all these years.

And it's tough to see Alex Smith go after coming all the way back from that horrific injury, but atleast he left on a high note for the most part.

  6. In the day and age of having openers, you would think on overcast days with the possibility of a rain delay looming that teams would go that route. I know it's not for everyone, but with more and more teams thinking outside the box, that is one route I'm surprised hasn't been looked at. Why waste a starter when you could just waste an opener?
