  1. I just finished the Star Wars novel "Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter" last night. It was pretty good, set before Phantom Menace. Made Maul a much better character than the movie did.

In the next day or two I have two more Star Wars novels "The Joiner King" and "The Unseen Queen", the first two books in the new Dark Nest Trilogy, arriving from Amazon. Supposed to be pretty good, so I'm looking forward to it.

  2. I've only ever seen Annie Hall, but I really enjoyed it. Woody works well in his acting roles, even though he can only ever play one type of character. He's quirky or something, and it just makes his movies all the more entertaining.

  3. I've generally got my games the day before their official release, but GTA: SA arrived the day after. And I was so excited about getting it on the day of release too sad.gif

Hah, my San Andreas came on the day of release, along with my MP3 player and the Battle Royale Soundtrack. I love Amazon.co.uk :P

  4. I liked the Village actually....It didn't get panned here in the UK as much as it did in the US.

I also like the surprising endings in:

    Fight Club

    Memento

    American Psycho

Arlington Road (though it left me sad :()

    Zatoichi (swerve! Or was it?!)

So I'm in that mood after watching my SAW DVD again and then seeing SAW2 so I have this question:

I'm looking for good movies (Horror or Action) with surprising and GREAT endings. Preferrably recent (As in 2001+) and ones that are out on DVD for me to buy.

    Saw = Good Ending

    The Village = Shitty

I also saw OldBoy with the English subtitles and I LOVED that movie. I can't wait for the American remake. Thanks.

    An American remake of Oldboy?!

Ack that would actually be the WORST THING EVER!

US remakes pretty much all ruin the original films. I can't emphasise that enough.

Oldboy was magnificent, as much for it's subtleties and acting performances as the script, filming and action.

For a start in a US film there's no way a live octopus would be eaten <_<

  5. RPGs - I've always had a pretty fertile imagination, so I appreciated the other-world qualities of games like Final Fantasy VII, Grandia and Breath of Fire III (three of my favourites). I was the only one of my group of mates to like them.

Simulation/RTS - Civilization, FM, Tropico and Medieval: Total War all appealed to me, and I think it's because I don't have the reaction times necessary for action-adventure, so I was able to keep up with these games, which made me better at them and I enjoyed them all the more.

  6. Off the top of my head you're probably outside the transfer window, the club you're trying to sign from is outside the window or you have the maximum number of loanees already.

I've finally got my enthusiasm for the game now. I was inspired by Bigot Brigade's tale of Irish conquest so I started with Shelbourne with all of the home nation leagues active, planning to hop around them eventually. However things are going well with Shels so I plan on staying. Doing well in the league and cups and even on the verge of the UEFA Cup group stage. I made it to 3rd round of Champions League qualifiers but got smashed 5-1 on aggregate by Monaco.

  7. I liked this thread better when it wasn't all about discussing future stuff and was just a place to laugh and pass comment on recent stuff. :(

Alright, hows about the supposed Lori lookalike at Stu's wedding that looks nothing like Lori aside from being asian? Lori was so hot, she needs to come back and get naked like those pictures she shot.

  8. Family Guy: Probably "E Peterbus Unum" (well, it's something like that). The one where Peter declares his house an independent country. Some great moments in it. Honourable mention goes to "Da Boom", which was a great way to start off Season 2.

24: Season 3, I think it was 7-8am. The one where Jack has to kill Chappelle to prevent the virus being released. Pretty gut-wrenching stuff; I almost cried like a little girl.

Only Fools and Horses: The episode where they go to Mallorca and Rodney has to pretend to be 14. Comic genius.
