  1. It seems silly to hate the actor because her character is written as the daughter of a religious fanatic. You see it today in the world where devout religious folk pronounce that god will cure all their ailments etc. It doesn't seem too far fetched that in the case of a Zombie Apocalypse, there would be people unwilling to kill others without waiting out for a cure first.

Herschel explained it in the episode. You don't kill a schizophrenic because he's dangerous to others. While that's apt I would think something along the lines of AIDS would be more appropriate. You spread it person to person and it can kill you but you don't go shooting everyone with AIDS because it's inhumane.

This weeks episode finally saw some of the build up starting to pay off. Great ep.

  2. Umm isn't the post two up from your original one showing how to make your own Titantron?

No, what I meant was "Is the old system of making titantrons still available?". For example saving parts of matches and including them in the titantron, Or is it just automated like the video gives the impression of.

  3. I watched Breaking Dawn, yes.

I never, in my life, thought I'd say one of the most shocking moments I'd see in the cinema would be during that film.

The back-break.. it was one of the most shocking and grotesque things I've seen.. just crazy. Probably less so if you've read the books, but I haven't and it was like.. WOAH WHAT THE FUCK.

Eh, eitherway it was solid. They're decent films and are horribly shunned, but oh well I enjoyed it.

I saw the second Twilight film (can't remember what it's called) because there was nothing on at the cinema and myself and friend were desperate to get out of the house. Anyway, I thought it was hilarious and really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'll probably see the new one at some point as well.

  4. Just caught up on watching all 4 seasons of Mad Men. I can't believe it took me this long to get into this show. It's amazing. The only problem I could think of was that I got sick of some of the people's characters at certain points (e.g. Betty's continual childish-ness, Campbell's hate on everyone routine) but by the third season they began to ease off on them and they moderated the amount it happened. Also one other thing that bothered me was the constant shots of Peggy smiling, a person leaving a room, and then her looking sadly off into the distance. It just happened so often.

Other than that, amazing show and I can't believe it has to take a year off.

  5. I mean, you guys know this is a movie with Kristen Stewart in it, right? I should point that out.

This argument pisses me off. Sure she isn't the greatest actor in Twilight but she has done other movies and she was perfectly acceptable in those. Also, I didn't mind the Twilight movies and I really think most of the hate comes from "lol, Twilight" more than her actual ability.

  6. It definitely looks like they are heading the same way as the comics in regards to Herschel's farm. Also, I have a strong feeling that Dale is going to get offed at some point. I say this because Andrea seems to be teetering on the edge lately and while she has this problem with Dale, I could imagine her finally snapping completely if Dale got killed. I do't want it to happe cos I love Dale, but I have this hunch that it will.

  7. I've chosen to block that scene out of my mind forever.

Or that sceene were they had him go mad on the wifebeater.

It´s realy just lazy shit writing on his character, he has to be a terrible dick every other episode and it never makes any sens at all, it just happens so the dumbest of the dumb viewers dislike him. (like in this Episode were they actualy still had a TON of time to fight on the ground before the zombies caught up... so yeah, shane shotes him so he now has to carry two bags with his injured leg? Great idea to wast lots of time and slow yourself down even more... good thing the mass of zombies just goes for otis and no one at all goes after shane, it´s not that the established that this could/would happen a sceene before wen they were still inside.

I thought him going ape on the wifebeater was good development of the character. Like, he's a dick but he still cares about the people in the camp.

Also I presumed that they all stopped at Otis because he was there and bleeding. When he runs off in the other direction when they are in the gym there are still some zombies left behind who didn't chase. They're the ones that Shane caught the attention of.

  8. It really boils down to whether you are a utilitarian or not. For the greater good of many, someone had to be sacrificed to the horde so that one of them could escape. Not only did that save Carl but it probably brought some other important supplies to the group who were clearly low on medicines.

Sure, it's shitty and I hate Shane for doing it, but when you have one bullet left, have no hope of escaping and feel a greater duty towards one person than the other, some things just have to happen.

  9. The only film I have cried at is The Titanic. I was about 12 at the time. I actually think I had to turn the VCR off because it was too much at the time.

Apart from that the only movie I was misty eyed over was Schindler's List. This was mainly because I had family in the Holocaust. Even then, the scene that finally got to me was this one:

Fuck. I just got misty eyed again. Damn you people.

  10. Have they released a second compendium for The Walking Dead yet? I bought the first one but I'm a stickler for continuity in my books (e.g. having a Hardcover version of each book in a series if I bought my first one as a hardcover) so I want to wait till that comes out before continuing with my Walking Dead reading.

  11. I half called the switch at the end that stops The Doctor from dying. I just thought that it would be that flesh stuff instead of the Tesselector. It was always going to be something along those lines and they have been developing a "things that can mimic others" sub-plot for ages.

  12. Since there seems to be some Jonathan Creek fans here (and some who have seem most of the episodes), I was wondering if anyone knew the episode I'm trying to find. It involved a magician (i think) and all I remember is the death was a woman who was sawn in half with one of those big circular wood saws that you push wood through due to an accident.

That episode actually scarred me as a child and I had nightmares and an aversion to the show for a very long time. I'm trying to re-find the episode so that I can re-watch it and see if it really was all that bad.

Sorry for derailing the topic a bit.

  13. I guess it's more their constant presence that bugs me more and how they have been degraded over time from over use in the new series. Maybe it's just my hate for them as villains and how they've been used. I'm not really sure. I alway groan when a Cyberman shows up and the only time I felt they were used properly since Tennant destroyed them in that alternate reality was when Rory showed up for Directions last season.

And yes they've been building the Silence this whole time but they are the major story arc. I'm talking about the villains in between that the Doctor faces off against for an episode or two. I feel that there needs to be a few more options other than Dalek or Cyberman.

This is all scrabbled cos I can't figure out what I want to say. I guess I feel like the writers are including them for the sake of including them.

  14. I'll concede that using the Cybermen allowed for less exposition and more focus on the fun but my point still stands that they should not use the Cybermen for a long while after this. Use the time to develop some new enemies or refresh some old ones so that Doctor Who doesn't rely on Daleks and Cybermen when the time comes to resort to an established villain.

  15. But if all you need is a throwaway alien, you may as well use one that

    a) needs no time wasted on introduction/explanation

    b) sells toys

That's a terrible excuse for using them. They could have used all that time looking for a rat thing with introducing the new alien. Hell, I'd rather them have used the plastic people things and have the mannequins come alive again.
