  1. Well, this isn't necessarily the best thing for the show. If there aren't segments showing the fighter's personalities and background, then no one but the hardcores will care and, therefore, the ratings will sink.
  2. I'm sure if they delivered a card worth watching, people would buy. Not that many would be scouring the internet for spoilers, and I know for the England shows that there are replays at the regular time for a UFC PPV.
  3. Does anyone else think that UFC 89 card looks pretty darn weak for a PPV? I hope it's on Spike instead. I'm super excited for UFC 87, however, and I may actually buy it. Every single fight on the main card looks interesting to me, a rarity. As for the EliteXC show, it could probably be very good, and I am looking forward to Smith/Lawler II, but I seriously doubt this will get anywhere near the ratings of the first one from looking at the line-up. If it gets low ratings, I really hope CBS knows that not every show is going to get as good a rating as the first one did.
  4. Me as well. One would think UFC would give him more. They would... but part of what he wanted in his UFC contract was for a bunch of his Red Devil teammates to be given contracts, and the UFC just wasn't interested in them. Hmm, are they in Affliction? I read that the UFC wouldn't let him do his Sambo tournaments, and that's what screwed up the negotiations.

  6. Spoiler: Click here to viewHe smashed him in the face, got Irvin on the ground, and continued to smash him until the ref stopped. I'm not entirely sure what your definition of a beating is. Houston Alexander, when he beat Keith Jardine, waited until Keith got him into a sloppy clinch before unleashing the deadly uppercut. Keith made the mistake of keeping his head vulnerable in the clinch. Chuck Liddell finishes most of his fights through counter punching. Alot of fighting is based on capitalizing upon what your opponents do or don't do, and using your knowledge to take advantage. If Anderson Silva knocking James Irvin down with one punch, before unleashing a barrage of punches on the ground until the ref showed mercy, isn't a 'beating' then I don't know if I'll ever see one.
  7. Spoiler: Click here to viewIsn't that what fighting is all about? The man won in just over 60 seconds. That's a beating.
  8. Spoiler: Click here to viewWow, Anderson Silva is the baddest man alive. Good god.
  9. **Slight Disclaimer, I'm more a UFC fan than an MMA fan** How long have you watched MMA: Almost 3 years How often do you watch it: A few times a month What interested you in the sport intially (an aspect of it, a fight, a fighter, etc): The realness of it, the awesome fight build-ups What MMA promotions you watch/have watched: UFC, PRIDE First fight and/or event viewed (that you can remember): I watched a bit of UFC 1 way back when, but the first would have to be the Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale Last fight and/or event viewed: UFC 81 Favorite fighter (that you support or just enjoy watching): Anderson Silva, Jason MacDonald, Karo Parisyan Least favorite fighter: Yushin Okami, Sean Sherk Favorite fight: Karo Parisyan vs. Diego Sanchez (UFN 6), Randy Couture vs. Tim Sylvia (UFC 68) Favorite event: UFC 74 Favorite knockout: Gonzaga headkicking Cro Cop Favorite submission: Jason MacDonald's guillotine on Chris Leben #1 Pound for Pound Fighter based on wins (in your opinion): Quinton Jackson #1 Pound for Pound fighter based on skill: Anderson Silva Most overrated fighter: Diego Sanchez Most underrated fighter: Lyoto Machida
  10. From browsing Sherdog, it reminds me of the ROH message board, or a good majority of the TNA fans. They hate most of the popular UFC-created superstars (Liddell in this case) and root for the lesser-known fighters (anyone from PRIDE). There's nothing wrong with that, but most of them are downright ignorant about it (the reaction of that board after Cro Cop/Gonzaga made me cackle with glee). Do I think Liddell is overrated? No, but I'm not sure if the reason he's so popular is because of his skill. I think his look has a lot to do with it, as he's marketed as an action hero more than a fighter. His emotionless, 'Ice-Man' persona is what made him; and it shows because despite two consecutive losses, the fans still loved him when he fought Wanderlei. That being said, he definitely deserves respect if only because he is one of the ones who helped get UFC off the ground and into the mainstream. While his ground skill may be lacking and his chin may be more vulnerable than was once believed, he is still one of the best/most entertaining fighters in his weight class right now.
  11. Err, UFC's lightweight division is quite strong...there's multiple guys near the top of the ladder. To name but a few: Nate Diaz, Manny Gamburyan, Kenny Florian, Rich Clementi, Tyson Griffin, Clay Guida, Roger Huerta, Gray Maynard, Cole Miller, Joe Lauzon, etc. Any of those guys vs. Sherk would be great.
  12. In my opinion, UFC is making a large mistake in giving Sean Sherk a title shot right away. The guy got busted, and the fans know it....did you hear them booing the shit out of him? No buys. That being said, BJ vs. Sherk should be a good fight, although I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll have a hard time getting into the hype.

    The Music Of Canada

What really boggles my mind is how bands like The Hip and Sloan are only popular really in the confines of Canada whereas a band like Nickelback have somehow acheived worldwide popularity. It's too bad the world hardly realizes that Canada has better music these days than Nickelback and Avril (as evidenced by Reily's post) .
