I don't imagine Russia are shaking in their boots

Now I am at the point that I can say Croatia "deserves" to win this, but only because of that stolen goal, not because they played so great. Neither of those teams looked like they can stop a motivated Russia from advancing to the semis.

Denmark surely have the advantage now - psyche wise. I did not know that. Still seems unfair, that was a sure goal and then it was nothing.

Why isn't this a straight up red card?

This World Cup!

I like Denmark, but Croatia derserves to win here - and should, judging by group stage performance. But then again, this has been the craziest world cup since 2002, crazier even, so who knows what'll happen.

Good to see, they are playing to win. The many substitutes on both sides might be a good thing. Lots of guys happy to play in the world cup and have a good showing.

This could be the weirdest game all cup, if both England and Belgium try to actually come through as 2nd (which promises the easier way to the final on paper) A German announcer just suggested they could kick the ball around for 90 minutes, then a english player takes of hs shirt for a yellow card and the 1st place will be decided randomly.

I'm hoping Senegal and Japan make it through today, but the Colombians won't make it easy for Senegal and I expect the Polish also want to go out fighting. Whoever finishes first in this group is the lone non-european team in their half of the KO stage bracket.

Looking at the developing brackets so far, I'd say England and Belgium both should actually play to make the 2nd place in their group.

I don't know when this weakness on finishes/getting goal opportunities started or what caused it. You could blame it on Klose, Schweinsteiger and Lahm retiring after 2014, but both qualification and Confed Cup went pretty well, Euro 2016 wasn't bad either. They all just seem really nervous and without any ideas.

Being a Germany fan was a lot more easier in 2014.
