  1. Homeland fell off so hard. The ending of almost every season 3 episode had me like "but.....nothing happened" And Dana. Fuck Dana.
  2. People that call into the fanatic (and WIP, for that matter) are the lowest common denominator. Some of the things I've heard on there, especially when Missanelli is on, will just blow your mind. I feel like a lot of the younger, 20-something generation, though, can have a coherent conversation without too much bias ruining that conversation. The old drunks that sit in the bars though, there's no reasoning with.
  3. Doesn't help that alot of Eagles fans are douchebags to a greater degree than most other teams fans that gets them hated on and the ones who are actually decent such as yourself get overlooked cause of it. I won't totally dispute that, but a lot of Eagles fans know more about football than people would think. We do tend to get delusional at times, though. Also, The Eagles' marketing department has ben crushing it this year with video content. check out flyeaglesfly.com Here's the latest video: http://vimeo.com/82963876
  4. Thea Eagles because we're fun. And because we're the UNDERDOG TEAM~! this year. Although realistically, no one but Eagles fans is rooting for the Eagles because everyone seems to hate us :-(
  5. Turns out Bubby Brister, Jake Plummer, and Brian Griese weren't as good as we'd hoped. That's part of it - if I recall correctly, he had a lot of control over personnel in his time with the Broncos, yet couldn't find or develop a QB. That will doom any coach/GM. It's impressive he stayd on for almost 10 years without a playoff win. And Maxx, I don't think they've officially hired him yet. He can do the Chip Kelly thing still and leverage teams/his current job in negotiations and stall as long as he wants.
  6. I was still young when he won those Super Bowls, but I know he followed them up with one playoff win the rest of his tenure there, and generally has gotten bounced in the first round in years his team makes the playoffs. But yeah, the front office in Washington is a mess. Shanahan certainly didn't help things, though. The RGIII thing has created a complete circus down in DC. Dan Snyder is a terrible owner - it's like he's just playing Madden Franchise mode, but in real life.
  7. Shanahan thinks he's a lot better than he actually is. If I was leading a coaching search for any team right now, I'd be looking for a fresh take. A lot of recent coaching success has been on guys doing their first HC job - the Harbaughs, McCarthy, Smith (although it's a rough year for him this year), Kelly, etc. Sure there's also Carroll, Fox and Reid, but I'd look to someone like Bill O'Brien before Shanahan, who coasted to two Super Bowls on Dan Reeves' teams, and hasn't won a thing since. He's done more harm than good to Washington (although the front office deserves blame on that, too), and has a weird insistence that his son is a competent OC.
  8. It's just a crazy stat that I saw someone tweet yesterday. Cowboys fans like to talk about their Super Bowls, but they've been irrelevant since before Y2K. It's the same thing I hate about the Flyers. I'm a huge fan, but I hate when people my age talk about Stanley Cups that were 20 years before they were born. I try even not to talk about the Eagles success under Reid and McNabb, because at this point, it's irrelevant.
  9. Playoff victories since 1997: Cowboys, 1. Jaguars, 3. Just throwing that out there. That's like Habs fans still celebrating Stanley Cups from 30 years ago. Irrelevant. But man, Boykin has been so clutch all season. I've been chirping on Twitter about him having a big role in the team's success since the preseason, and the coaching staff showed trust in him putting him one-on-one with Dez in some situations. His game-ending INT was a beauty. The penalty for delay of game was a shitty call, but it didn't effect the outcome since Dallas scored anyway. Is there any color commentator worse than Collinsworth? Besides praising McCoy, he really sounded like he had money on the Cowboys.
  10. Big first down on a fake punt for San Diego in OT And a Randall Cobb TD with :38 left
  11. The NFL is insane this year...only one seed is decided going into week 17, and the Cardinals will probably miss the playoffs at 11-5. Go Birds. I could see them beating the Saints at home, especially since it's supposed to be like -354245807 degrees next weekend
  12. Also, Sean Lee is out for Dallas. He's been a great linebacker for them this year.
  13. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/fan-killed-stadium-broncos-chiefs-game-police-article-1.1534471 I think there were a few others, but I know that Oakland and San Fran stopped playing preseason games because of annual stabbings/shooting
  14. That was more of a point to say that Philadelphia fans are treated unfairly by the national media. Sure, there have been incidents, but I'd say Philly fans are more well-behaved than, say, Oakland, San Fran, KC or Denver
  15. As someone who hates the "Snowballs at Santa Claus" cliche - it's lazy journalism and that was 40 years ago - Philadelphia has a reputation as a blue collar city and a tough city, and we love to hear shit like what Chip said. That being said, people don't routinely get stabbed at the Linc like they seem to out west. If they did, you'd better believe it wouldn't be glossed over like it is in Oakland, San Fran and Denver. It would be a front page story for weeks.
  16. The Philly media was asking Chip Kelly all kinds of questions last night about what his thoughts were going into the game, if he thought of resting starters, etc. His response couldn't have been more perfect. "We're from Philadelphia, and we fight." I've never seen a guy get so ingrained in the culture of a city so quickly. Dude can get a free meal anywhere in Philadelphia right now. I think Shady runs all over the Boys next week, then who knows. Anything can happen once they're in.
  17. Eagles may have shit the bed today (besides the other shoe dropping on the defense, their lack of using McCoy was baffling), but at least we can count on Tony Romo to keep us in first.
  18. Bledsoe was one of the better post-Aikman QBs. And this absolutely should be the season that causes the Cowboys to clean house. They could have had the division sewn up by Week 7, given how atrocious the other NFC East teams were. Instead, they'll end up in a must win game week 17, which they will lose. But nothing will change, we'll keep running the same old, uncreative offense and trot out a shitty defense with a terrible secondary. Every year, rinse and repeat. Maybe. If they lose this week to the Packers (pretty much contingent on Rodgers coming back and playing at a high level), the Eagles could very realistically have the division sewn up before week 17. Bears/Eagles week 16 has been flexed to SNF.
  19. Especially not for old ass Monte Kiffin. Great win by the Bears. Eagles face AP-less Vikings (maybe minus Gerhart too) next week, while the Cowboys might see the return of Rodgers. Things are shaping up rather nicely. And I've started McCown in Fantasy for the last three weeks. The last thing that I ever expected to be able to say is "Josh McCown led my fantasy team to the playoffs"
  20. This could not have gone better. On top of the Eagles winning and Cowboys losing, I have McCown and Jeffery on my fantasy team
  21. Someone will take the job though, because after all, there are only 32 of them. The Redskins are hampered by not having a first rounder this year too. Without looking it up, are they missing anymore 2014 draft picks from the RGIII trade?
  22. Any other week that would've been a main highlight. With all of the craziness of the 1:00 games, no one cared about it. Absolutely insane series of events in a bunch of those games. How long until Shanahan & co. are out in Washington? Do they finish the season?
  23. I disagree. 3rd ranked offense in the NFL, 5 straight wins, and a defense that isn't letting teams score. I'm an Eagles fan, definitely, so I'm a bit biased, but this team has been among the best in the NFL over the past month and a half. When all of the power rankings come out this week, most will probably rank them in the top 8, I would guess, depending on what happens tonight/tomorrow. Either way, I'm having fun this season, so if I'm being a little bit delusional, don't mind me. I'm one of those that hates to point to a schedule, because it is the NFL after all, but in your five game winning streak you guys beat a pretty pathetic (and Pryor-less) Raiders, beat a Rodgers-less Packers, a very unorganized Redskins team, you did give up more than 20 points (a couple times since the Denver loss actually) to a Cardinals (that at least has a winning record) team that nearly came back to win, and this dysfunctional Lions game. I really can't put too much stock in today's game. The field was such a mess that shit just happens. I don't think the Lions have anywhere near the kind of kick returns, or that McCoy has the day he had on the ground, if they weren't playing in eight inches of that mess. Are they a good team? I think they are. Will they make the playoffs? Thanks to an awful division, yes I think they've pretty much wrapped that up barring a total collapse. Are they a Top Five team yet? No. That is indeed your fandom talking. It might be my fandom talking, but I really do believe in this Eagles team to surprise people, and depending on the first round draw (and the conditions, if they end up against the Saints), I can see the Eagles winning a playoff game this year. In the end, they can only play to their schedule, but I think they've proven that they're legit. Unquestionably a top-10 team. And, I was mistaken - we gave up 21 to Giants. Other than that, no opponent since Denver's scored more than 20 points. With the #3 offense, that's usually going to be a winning recipe. Plubby, you're probably right, I haven't seen enough of Carolina. That team, especially on D, is red hot right now.
